So i've had my 2013LC for 5 weeks now it was ex demo and had 3750 miles on it....now done 4200.
After accelerating hard the engine warning light comes on, happens nearly every time i ride it... but the bike doesn't feel any different, no limp mode etc.
I'm on holiday for a week and it goes back to the dealer next Wednesday....i can't believe the salesman who had it before didn't have this appear and it's only just started.
It started 2 week after i had it...but turn it off and on again and it's ok again....

Could it be the throttle position sensor as it only seems to light up when i accelerate hard...

Anyone else had this problem ?

The bike is under warranty.

Return to dealer ASAP, request that they ride the bike exactly as you describe. If (as they should) they see the same engine warning light flags up, they can then set about fixing it, well ahead of your holiday.

From memory, the handbook describes the engine warning light glowing either red or amber, depending on the circumstances and severity of the fault, real or imagined by the processor. What colour is yours? Not that it makes much difference as it shouldn't light following sharp application of the right wrist twist.

PS Are you sure it's the engine warning light, not the Traction Control light? Vicious under acceleration these 1200's.

The circumstances of the illumination to amber are described in the owner's handbook. Return to dealership and seek remedy, it's a part of the premium service, warranting the premium price charged.

If all else fails, invoke the 'Not fit for purpose' invalidation clause, mixed in with observations on the dealer's parentage and the bike's 'round the world' credentials. A large can of petrol and a Zippo lighter are handy to emphasise your unhappiness. Do be sure not to pour the petrol over yourself; the message should you do so is no less powerful, just more painful.

Thanks Wapping for your help !
Especially as i've only done a few hundred mile on it...i hope this won't be an issue...but we'll see.

Thanks again.

It will only be an issue if the dealer cannot:

(A) Relicate the lighting of the warning lights

(B) Cannot remedy the fault to your satisfaction

Get the jerrycan and Zippo ready!

I have a Zippo already, (used to own a company that sold them).....and i've just filled it up....some sort of lighted zippo thrown from a distance into the hole...bit like a fair ground game maybe ?

They will put it on the laptop update your software and bobs your uncle all done!!! Chill.

Monty ... Did you rectify this? Any explanation given as to the cause?

The LC has fly-by-wire throttle, meaning there is no mechanical linkage between the throttle butterflies and twistgrip. The butterflies are operated by a servo motor each.
In a sense, this means that the LC has no throttle-position sensor in the location Oilhead and Hexhead owners are used to. The rheostat which is part of the twistgrip is now the TPS.
