Not long back from a quick and wet trip to Sweden, and noticed a small oil leak which appears to be coming from the middle of the engine, on RH side. Looks like it is where the barrel joins the crank case.
Bike is in for its 18,000 service next week, so was just wondering if anyone else has had similar problem? I'm pretty sure the oil trail is not coming from further up the engine, so unlikely to be from the rocker cover gasket. I have BMW Warranty cover, so hoping that will cover it, but just wanted to be fore-armed in case I need to plead my case!
Just hope it doesn't mean an expensive engine strip down to renew a gasket.....
Any suggestions?

Well, not been overwhelmed with replies, but think I have found where the leak is coming from. It appears to come from the drain /vent hole at the base of the water pump housing, and , judging by the number of people with similar problem, is not that unusual! The O-ring seals on the pump can wear, or there are apparently 2 more seals that can fail, Some people have experienced coolant leaking, and some, like me, have just oil.
In for its service next week at Balderstons, so will see what they have to say. I'm no expert on this matter, but from my limited research this afternoon, it looks like BMW have redesigned the water pump drive cogs, from metal to plastic, and I wonder if the entire water pump will need to be replaced......nice, after just 18K miles!

Anyone else had this work done under warranty or "Goodwill"?
