Engine paint

I use Hamerite smooth silver (air-arsehole). If onto bare metal, use Hamerite special metals primer, brush on, wet 'n' dry smooth, then spray. Looks great if care has been taken in the preparation. Cheapest option. Two pack if your wealthy :D (hang on, if you have a BMW, you must be loaded)

The only loaded I am is when I am pished

Red Rooster,
I know the feeling re. being not loaded !
I painted my cylinder heads in the Hamerite smooth. Look grate.

I wouldn't use powder coat again. What worked well for me was vapour blast and two pack paint. But if you're on a budget, home made soda blast and smoothrite can give a really good finish. Once you start though ....

I used Hammerite smooth aerosol to do my 1100 heads 7 years ago. They still look absolutely fine.
