Not in central Scotland but Agra engineering in Dundee are the dogs. It is worth phoning them just to talk to the wee man that answers the phone and knows everything about every engine ever built.

I agree about David Silver but sadly engine parts supply for a GL1000 are limited.
What’s wrong with it ? Unfortunately I don’t have the experience / skills to identify from the noises its making – an unpleasant knocking for one thing. Certainly cylinder compression is half of what it should be across all 4 cylinders.
So for various reasons which I didn’t want to bore folk with I was looking for a recommended engine rebuilder.
However you may be right and I resort to DIY.
Time will tell.

compression... valves or bores/rings? A compression test will help diagnosis, Knocks... cams big ends clutch. If it runs a long screwdriver helps to find noises. Nothing to lose and much to learn having a poke at it.
