Has anyone had any problems or issues with the engine revving of its own accord? i.e. no rider input.
Scenario...Today a rider has been on a job but the bike (65 plate RT) had to stay outside in torrential rain for 45 mins or so. Rider gets back on the bike and onto a dual carriageway and suddenly the bike violently accelerates without throttle input. Throttle then becomes unless. Clutch in as bike won't stop full acceleration and into the next lay-by. Turn bike off wait for it to shut down, then fire it up and it then idles initially, but then goes max revs, no revs, max revs, no revs and so on.
Any ideas??! the bike has been fine prior to today and used constantly in all weathers.

Take it back to the dealer and they can confirm all is well. Remember the phrase " they all do that sir".

Now that is scary

I would think you should be in touch with BMW ASAP and reporting this as a safety critical issue, not asking if it has happened to someone else on an internet forum. If there is an issue everyone needs to know, not just readers of UKGSR, and BMW can reach all owners in the UK.

Thanks Nick...Obviously straight onto bmw motherland once the bike was recovered.
This forum is ideal for getting others views too thanks, plenty of knowledge and experience on here...

The rider is this lad...

The bike with the issue is the lead one here.

Class 1 riders, pusses

They ain't like the TC RT ! Any weather, flat out, trashed, never let you down .

No not at all, I ride them too and have ridden this one loads prior to this incident.
I have minimal mechanical knowledge, and our mechanic has recently left for a better life! The bike is at a local bmw dealer as of today and I'm meeting the motherland in the next few weeks.
