Has anyone else had this happen? It started a few weeks ago, and it doesn't do it every time. But when I switch off the engine it keeps running for about 4 turns. Talking to people about what may cause it it seems that the old reasons, timing or coking up, should not happen on a modern bike.

It's been happening for about 3 weeks, has must been in for 12K service and the computer didn't show up a fault.

Any ideas?

Had it on mine.

Under the barrel the key goes into, there's a switch, which fails in engine running mode. Takes about 1/2 an hour for the dealer to fix.

Call out BM assist, they should have it on the database now, may even have one in the car. And if NOG doesn't know what it is, get them to ring Williams Manchester to ask what part to order as they fixed mine :)

Mine went over Christmas and Williams ordered one for the bike, but it took a few days to get in so I got quite a bit of practice using the kill switch to stop the engine and then taking off the panels to disconnect the battery.

Changed the switch but it's still running on …

Any more ideas please?

Thought we'd sorted that out but the next day when iIswitched it off it still ran on for about 4 turns and the next day. But not every time. Mysterious.

Catherine.

Try pulling the HT leads off to stop the bike (yeah, i know, easier said than done) at least then you'll know whether it's an ignition problem or the plugs running very hot and igniting mixture.:eek

I just made that up in my head...I speak from a postion of having no experience whatsoever in this matter. So it probably won't work.:nenau

Madame's F800 has just started doing this. Ignition stays on after key withdrawn. This is following problems with very stiff ignition switch.

Will update on progress.

Not quite the same issue as the previous posters...my bike switches off, ie the engines stops, and the dash initially goes off, ie unlit in any way, then lights up again and stays "live", ie lit and the headlight comes on. You can start the bike again as the ignition is still on...in fact, even with the key out and the steering lock engaged, the bike will start... but not today, pesky thing is just fine...still going to grizzle to Lind, though...

Bumblebee booked into to Lind on Thursday for a new ignition to be fitted :thumb2 and he's still under warranty....hurrah!!! :thumb:thumb

Complete new ignition setup fitted under warranty by Lind. Madame's bike had been a bit resistant to the key for a while. Wonder if this was connected?
