The standard plastic bash plate on the F800GS Adventure is woefully inadequate for anything more than half a yard off-road. Even on the road, the front of the engine is very unprotected. So several options exist.
The Touratech one, but that is expensive and still does not cover the engine adequately. They also do an extension plate that is supposed to fit on the existing BMW plastic plate.
BMW also do an expensive aluminium bash plate to replace the plastic one.
But I decided to get the Rugged Roads Expedition Skid plate in black with matching locking tool box. So I took a nice sunny ride to the New Forest to visit Annette, have a cup of tea and look at the Skid plate and buy it.
