Engine swap

Guys,
I've restored most of the cycle parts of an old R100RS, 1982, but the engine and 'box are knackered.
Was originally going to recon them but now thinking of looking out for a good later engine & maybe 'box too, from a monolever, prob an R80 from 85 on.

question is, will the engine & box from, say, a 1988, R80RT, fit straight into my
twin shock frame & cycle parts ? Can I expect any other problems ?

Yes. But the later exhaust system won't be a straight fit .

Sorry but is there a reason for creating a R80 RS? Seems a bit pointless!!
