Allihies again.. but off to Asia soon....
M8 has just bought an immaculate VFR 1994 with 11000 miles for 2500Euros.

The downer is it has no keys....
No it's not nicked. How can he get new keys without changing the barrels...

Ta, I know it sounds funny but it is kosher

I could be wrong but I think that there is a number on the barrel if he can take it off. The dealer should be able to order keys from the number! :D

I thought the No. was on a tag that came with keys. I ordered a spare by phone for a GSX-R I once owned and the key arrived the next day in the post.

It requires the No. above, bike model and year. My dealer gave me the phone number of a specialist locksmith they would have used... which I no longer have, sorry.

Good luck.

Adam :)

In the olden days a thief would remove the helmet lock, take it to a locksmith and get a key made to fit. Then return and pinch the bike.

Should work for a 1994 VFR. Modern bikes with coded keys present more of a challenge.

Very good site for techie questions, including where to get keys.

Errmm, you know there's a very good VFR Club site around somewhere, where they're very likely able to answer your question! :D
