Looking for a way out
I rode my old 1150 over the weekend - I never use it and am now going to sell it.

I prefer the 1200 in almost every area, but one area just stood out where the 1150 was so much better:
- Clear, bold, sensibly sized and easy to read speedo and rev counter
- Indicators I could start and stop with a simple thumb waggle, rather than a whole hand movement
- heated grips that I can flick on and off and know what level they are on. I don't have to count the presses or try and see the tiny graphic on the LCD

OK not a long list, but then the 1150 doesn't have that many instruments. Also everything it has, is worse on the 1200.

Whoever did the 1200 instruments should be sacked.

Jim, I have MPH showing in the trip computer top area as I can't read the dial either. Rev counter I can just about manage without my reading glasses. Not that I need it. I just change up when it won't go any faster in the current gear.

I have the speed showing fairly large and clear in the bottom right hand corner of my Nav-5 which is permanently fitted to my bike, it's quite useful in that the speed numerals change from black to red when you exceed the limit on the road that you are travelling on. :augie

Yup, I use my GPS and the multi-functional display for the speed.

It just seems a pitty when the 1150 had dials that were a model of clarity, the 1200 needs the rider to find another way to find the information out...

Sounds like good idea. I've clearly missed this in the menu's.

Personally rarely use the rev counter but would prefer a larger speedo. Not sure why you need to move your hand to operate the indicators?

My thumb is not long enough to reach past the jog wheel to the right hand side of the indicator switch so I can push it left for left indication. I have to lift most of my palm off the grip to achieve this.

Yes, that would be a nuisance. I used to really like the earlier BMW switches which were thumb operated under each grip.
