Hi, The bikes a 2012 GSA and I have covered 65,000 miles so no complaints there, but the Rear ESA has now expired and I have bought a second user Unit from a well known company having paid over £500, its been fitted today and all looked well until recalibrating with the 911 when it promptly dumped its oil.
My question is having lost faith in that source, who can be recommended to recondition my old unit. ?

Well, it sounds like the ESA isn’t the problem, it’s just the shock itself. I think the company to refurbish the oem shock is called Firefox? Others will confirm

Sounds to me like you should be getting onto whoever’s supplied the shock to you, but Denso on here is the guy for doing a good refurb

Hold on. The first shock could be refurbished or have you tried? I’d send the shock back for a refund and see if your own shock can be refurbished. JJH

As JJH says send the defective one back for a refund and send your own to Denz0 off this parish. He has rebuilt all my shocks on my 1150's and only recently did the front on my 2010 TC all to an excellent standard and at a reasonable cost.

I panicked, and went for a second hand unit having been told that bmw have a 12 week back order and a local company to me are waiting 6 weeks or more for Wilburs, but to be honest have been very disappointed, with the service of the 2nd hand unit supplier and now its failed, straight away, having to go through the hassle of taking it off again and eventual refitting when I find a reliable source is even more annoying, hence my request for solutions from the site members.

Denz0 on this forum is the man to rebuild your shock. ( T-Tech Suspension),
I have had a number of shocks rebuilt by him, fast first class service.

Absolutely agree, the OP should not waste any more time or money. Denz0 does a first class job and is reasonably priced.

Thank you folks, Looks like hes the man for the job, i will be in touch with him on Monday :okay

I've looked at his website and it quote "Dynamic ESA made by ZF Sachs for BMW R1200GS LC bikes from 2013- current." so maybe he doesn't touch earlier ones, Mines 2012 the last of the twincam ?

Nope Denz0 will rebuild your original 2012 TC, he did mine a 2010 . I have a feeling he can supply aftermarket for all years

John and others are completely on the money here. I’m surprised that there is a market @ circa £500 for secondhand units, when a refurb by Denso will cost much less? I suppose it’s the scary new prices quoted by BMW that make folk panic.....:blast

Yes, especially when main dealer is quoting £1600 for the unit and a 12 week back order.

Yep. He did my ESA shock for my 2011 TC and did a first rate job as well. Fitted a custom spring for my weigh and lowered it approx 15mm at the same time. It came back looking like new. Quick, cost effective and just generally a really nice guy to deal with.

Well after a stressful start, with my rear ESA suspension giving up and then paying £500 for a secondhand replacement unit, the replacement promptly dumped its oil when carrying out the calibration. the good news is I was refunded and following the advice on here and being recommended to contact Denz0, the old unit was sent to him on Monday and returned to me today fully refurbished and upgraded. So thanks for the guidance folks and thankyou Lukasz (Denz0) for a fantastic service.:bow

Delighted you got a refund and Denz0 sorting you out . You won't be disappointed. Ride safe

Another shout for Denzo, rebuilt both front and back when i had my 2009 RT and a great service. He will also match up the springs should you want new ones to your weight..

Yes, that's what Denz0 recommended for me, 1st bimble yesterday and the difference the new set up has made a very noticeable improvement to the ride.
