ESA Really Firm Today

This happened to my LC GS on a number of occasions, for me it was the other way around - Id dial in two up + luggage, stop at the petrol station, re-start it and it would have returned to one up and then wouldn't budge.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to come on to the WC section and moan, good luck to you all and I hope you all enjoy your bikes. I'll never go back to BM, I think the reliability was absolutely shocking (don't get me started on my clutch / gear box ... )

I've got to say, its starting to play on my mind now. It's an expensive bike yet plagued with problems. I love it and theres nothing else on the market i would prefer. At the moment, the only reason i wouldn't get another one is the reliability.

my ride for the next few days....

not without fault mind. Poxy screen is stuck in high and i cant lower it and the thing stalled at the lights

That was the reason I got rid of mine. Darren at Vines absolutely stayed with the suspension problem. Cured it then it would go off again. Finally cured it...but los confidence and went back to a TC which I love....for some reason this issue seems to be more prevalent on the GSA....a few have had this problem now. On mine the BMW tech guy came down from Bracknell, confirmed it was not right and ordered a complete suspension change in the end.

Mine ended up being away for 7 1/2 weeks and fitted with datalogging equipment sending data back directly to Munich , can't find out what was done to the bike as it was claimed it fixed itself and no problems were found.......BOLLOCKS (off the record someone alluded to numerous ecu updates being tried out )

Is it better now?

The bike isn't displaying / registering any faults with the suspension, although its not behaving correctly which is rather odd. I believe they are having difficulty getting Germany to agree to replace the rear shock entirely. So far, they have send various different calibration methods, which I'm guessing haven't worked. last time i was there was Friday and the mechanic wants to change the shock but needs approval to do so. Will chase it today as i really want the bike back!!

My bike was hooked up to Germany. The explanation as to why my suspension was harsh was this. The front shock talks to the back one. When the front hit a bump it works out the time it will take for the rear wheel to hit the bump and adjusts accordingly. When the back adjusts it also tells the front how to behave to stop the bike pitching. If that gets out of synch...as was the case wi mine then the whole things goes to "rats hit" (official BMW tech term) and delivers a crap ride.

The rear being goosed can affect the front so they replaced both on my bike. I still think the best suspended bike I had was my 08 non ESA GS on Wilbers.....just turn a couple of knobs and sublime ride what ever the load....happy days.

Anyway, as I said, I lost confidence in the tech as well as build quality and got shot of it.....very pleased I did.

KTM got problems with their fancy suspension now, so no one is immune to problems - this stuff is great when it works (especially 2 up) and touch wood my TE has been fine so far (12000 miles).

Perhaps he's not blinded by the hype and can see the real lack of perceived value:augie

Not a broken record....cause in this context it would have meant the needle bouncing across tracks, the label flaking off, the knob on the left hand side not working and some strange green fluid leaking out the side of the record player....in other words a pile of junk that I wouldn't have been able to play!:D

Blinded by the hype?:nenau
Lack of perceived value?:nenau

I've put over 35k on my LC GS's and haven't had any of the problems discussed on this forum. ;)

My GSA was the best bike I've ever owned. Roll on, September, when my 2017 GSA arrives.:beerjug:

Good for you - but please accept some people have had a completely different experience with new WC Boxers and are not all as delighted as you are

Whilst it seems often the biggest commentators have no experience at all........:augie

So I'm dreaming about

ESA going wrong
Engines & drive trains replaced due to corrosion
Clutch fixes and replacement of said parts
Screens cracking
RT's with warped body panels
Bikes replaced for disgruntled owners

I must have misread all the posts in the WC section and therefore I apologise for commenting
