ESA Stuck

Had a similar problem on a R1250RS, suspension felt solid and nothing changed on playing with esa settings, dealer diagnosis didn't reveal anything suspect.
However during annual service it was noticed the shaft recall hadn't been done, some water ran out when fitting the drain, turned out the shaft had seized at both ends, took them a few hours to free and cut out the shaft and replace it.
The ride home afterwards was like a completely different bike and changing suspension settings actually made a difference, bike was also a lot quieter.
Well that doesn't sounds like a cheap fix 😮

Fortunately all the work that related to the shaft, inspection, test, strip, and shaft replacement was all carried out FOC under the BMW recall - so I only paid for the annual service and MoT.

I went out for a ride this weekend after the re calibration.

Still not right, BUT when i changed modes it did feel different.
The suspension although still banging and hard is less in Rain mode than it is in Dynamic for instance.

As @anotherone mentioned i am leaning more towards a shaft issue.

I have booked in with Williams BMW Manchester for them to look at it, i might as well ask for a full service including the final drive too.
I will explain the issues to the mechanic and await his opinion.

have you had the recall done for the shaft to be inspected/replaced yet? (if your Bike is in that catchment).

So finally after booking then having it rescheduled my bike is in BMW
Lets see what they have to say, i await a phone call.

Ive been given a 800 GS as a loan bike, its ok but i wouldn't want to own one.
You forget how much the front end dips after riding a 1200+ and the chain jerk as you roll off the throttle.
it feels like a toy lol

I had the same with both front and rear esa on a 1200r. I sent them to Denso, both had seized solid with internal corrosion and the bike was mint! He rebuilt them both making them serviceable in the future too for £500 ish . Really swift and easy procedure using the post would highly recommend. Ask him how many he does!!!! BMW know this is an issue!

Sad part of this is i was thinking of finally part exing my bike for either a late 1250 or a new 1300.
but if i end up paying the full price for this i will have to keep the bike.
paying that just to part ex would be daft.

Hopefully Denzo can come to the rescue and i will keep the bike until feb when the new reg is out then go looking.

Have you looked for 2nd hand units? Maybe they'll be cheap enough to maintain a good trade in price.
