Just bought a ex demo 1200GS. Had it a week and this morning when I switched it on the ESA warning light came on. How? Not safe to ride?

David, I thought it always came on, along with the ABS warning light, then went off as you pull away.... but I may be wrong.

Could be wrong here but I think it's the ABS and the traction control warning lights that stay on until the wheels move and the censors calibrate.

But with the ESA try setting it for two people then back to one person load. Winding the preload up and down like that could clear it.

Presumably the warning light stays on when you ride the bike and you cannot adjust the settings.

If so it's gone into a "safe mode" - should be fine to ride the bike. Happened once to my GSA and had to get the dealer to reset it.

I think you may be right there... it was a little early in the morning for me :D

This has happened to me twice in about two months and each time it fixed itself. The second time it happened on starting the bike first thing in the morning in a hotel car park on our ride around the Pyrenees. An hour later, after a stop for coffee, the warning was gone. You presumably lose the adaptive damping but apart from that it seemed to ride ok.
