British is a bit too global for those that stand either side of this divide: Polish lorry drivers are more welcome than those wearing the wrong colour stripe/living near the "wrong" river, in some parts.
(There was a lass in Aldi , Cramlington tonight, wearing a Sundeland shirt and the security guard was stalking her.)

(For instance: Up the road ( 1.5 miles) in Seghill, where historically miners were brought in from Sunderland, they still support their father's team and have to be bussed to Sunderland on match days to get the coach/train to Newcastle on derby days to satisfy Police/security measures ... )

I take it as light-hearted, but some strange folks are deadly serious about it.

Any "Mackems" spotted and good anti-"Mag" stuff?

I used to live in Jarrow which is 50-50 on the football thing, I'm not really a fan but I do enjoy a bit of a wind up

They do tend to take it a bit more serious in Newcastle , plenty of people in Sunderland with Black and white tops on and no one seems to mind ,my local has a lad who wears his top for the Mag TV games and no one bothers him . It would'nt suprise me if there's more Mackums living closer to ST J's than Geordies
