eTrex Battery life

My eTrex Vista seems to drain rechargeable batteries at the rate of 4+ for a 12 hour day out.
Before I panic about the unit I'm going to get some new rechargeables..

Can anybody suggest a make of rechargeables (nimh) that are a bit better than the rest?

My V goes thru a set of normal duracell in 2 days use, ie about 12 hrs.

Rehargeables don't normally last as long I think - Jim-650 has some in his etrex, he may pick up on this thread and let you know his findings

Why not put a power lead on your bike, or is it being used hand/bicycle held?

Have you upgraded the software on your etrex. There is an option for selecting the type of battery technology used in the setup.

Uniross

I've read the report, Uniross 2100 come out quite well, I buy Uniross 2300 ( a superior battery I'm told) on Ebay at around £8.00 for 4 no. and pay £1.20 for postage.

From memory £14.00 'ish in the High Street.

Yes I did that as soon as I bought it, and alwys make sure it's set to the correct battery, I'll have a look around at the rechargeables and see if I can get an improvement.
