How de doodie, have finaly done it, despite Charlie and Ewan:barf Am a new member. Thats always taken the p*ss outa you GS Uniformned Clones. Iv finaly bought a new r1200gs Rallye. Have owned in the last five years. K12R 09 V.Max K13GTE Tuono Factory Ducati Diavel=Heap of sh*t. K13SHP Loved the S but with age comes a little joint pain. So went back to my Dealer, Cotswold BMW Gloucester. for a bike with more upright riding position:rob:rob:rob. Saw the new edition white Rallye:thumb2 but was going to go the RT Route, Following day (Sunday) just happened to be passing Oxford BMW. Popped in Ended up getting a cracking straight swop deal that included on top of all the BMW Options a set of crash bars. Twin Spot lights. Sat Nav mounting. Tried to phone my dealer to see if he could match or beat the offer but could not get through. Real shame as there honestly one of the best, honest, dealers about. And iv had two bad problems with Oxford Dealership and only use them for demo bikes. Now about the GS. Bloody hell why didnt i wise up before. I bloody love it. On the first decent ride out on it. A mate had his new Triumph 1200 gs copy. And when we got to Stonhenge we done a swop and i rode his to Marlborough and yes its a Diamond. Brill engine. in fact its to good, will be more suitable in the new promised Trophy. We both remarked except for the engine, if you shut your eyes you would have a problem telling what make you were on:blagblah. So heres to you wise ones that purchased long ago:beerjug::bow

My understanding is that North Oxford BMW have been taken over by Wollaston BMW.

On the subject of K13S -> R12GS, I have had the use of a K13S HP for the past few weeks while my GSA has been in the workshop at Wollastons. While accepting that the K13 is one staggeringly fast motorbike, I can honestly state that I was more than happy to get back on my GSA this morning. The K13 was a fantastic tool, blowing everything else into the weeds (my regular commute involves no heavy traffic at all, comprising a straightforward blast along A-roads and dual cabbageways) and would demolish long Motorway trips were it not for the pathetically small fuel tank. But when it comes to actually enjoying the ride (without getting a tad silly on the speed front) I have to say my GSA has it all, and am *so* glad to have it back again :-)

As it happens that statement is an honest opinion by both of us owners. I am not a BMW Only make in the world nutter. And i had originaly tried to cut a deal at Swindon Triumph. They are selling very well so the dealer was not inclined to cut the price at all. An even worse offer was made by Riders of bristol. (RIP OFF WANKERS) I have a 3month old 15,500POUND hps with 1,300 mls on the clock and the twats offered me 10,000pound for it in exchange for a Multistrader. And there also a BMW Dealer, thats a loss of Five thousend five hundred pound loss in 3months. Out of the three bikes my preferance was No 1 Ducati even after my Disasterouse time with my Diavel. No2 was the Triumph. 3rd Place the BMW. For two reasons, No1 Its going to be replaced by the watercooled 1200 OR 1300cc model. 2nd The long way down Twins. Just thought of a third reason. Once the model is replaced the dealers tell you it aint worth sod all as everyone wants the latest model. After a demo i know its as much fun as the two other bikes. Yes its a bit slower but its going to outlast a Ducati. (fact) and the Triumph is so very similar. Im glad its worked out as it has. I love the GS. One final thing , iv told my mates that if they ever see me wearing the LONG WAY DOWN. Riding gear. Bloody well shoot me. Just dont mention the War:ronno

Grumps (I'm guessing your same fella from the Diavel forum).

The Ducati Diavel is not a crap bike. Yours might have been a dodgy one. But after a year of ownership I'm still extremely happy with mine, and so are 3 of my mates who also have them.

As for the 1200GS/GSA? it can also have reliability problems you know.
However, my GSA has given me 24k miles of total reliability.
So its still the luck of the draw, and you can still get a good-un or a bad-un.

Not all of us are. I don't stick to one brand. I just love the 1200:GS

Ah, the TWAT SUIT. It's fine if you're riding round the world or similar, but a big NO NO if you're only going as far as tesco
Textile kit is fine, but I still wear my 2 piece leather kit with knee sliders :D I don't like to conform :green gri

PS. Don't EVER ask about oil. It upsets the old ones around here and makes them spit out their pint of Scruttocks Old Belly Warbler. Just do a search :D

agree that 5500 is a big drop

as for dealers trade in values - it works for us poor old boys that cannot afford new, every time the model changes the dealers fill up with 2 or 3 year old 2nd handers which for some of us is all we can afford

doesnt help you maybe but every cloud!

self defence mode

Yonko Yonko, Iv heard this defence of Ducati models for 45 Odd years. Its Always been a fragile good looking unreliable heap. As for me being the only Diavel owner with problems Absolute BO**OCKS Recalls for Steering lock, rear end light and No Plate Recall 833 Engine stopping when it wants to Sidestand collapsing. Rear brake locking on Engine running on at 2000revs when you shut the throttle and on and on and on. I wasnt the only one with problems read your own website. And if you were to complain about the shit Chinese parts fitted to it you get threatened to be banned from the website. Y ou and a few others may have been lucky. As you bought yours later most of the recalls had been done. Proves the point phone your dealer and ask if he wants to buy it and then how much. Have a word with your Ducati Fitters and not the Salesman. But there again i loved it when it was working. Im not stupid enogh to think that Jap and German are perfect but Ducati have always had more probs than other makes. Would i buy another one even if i knew it to be perfect. No i bloody wouldnt. There already having problems with the New Panigale. Suprise suprise. I.E. Clutches Exploding amongst a few. Now you can pop back onto the Diavel website and report me:thumb. will try to log in when i get back from France to see if the Ducati Defence Legue have struck me off.:clap
