Sorry if this has come up before but no results with a search.
Off to Germany and France tomorrow, is it ok to use this E10 Euro 95 fuel in my 1200 TC or shall I stick to using super plus 98?
Seems unclear whether or not it is ok to use in all petrol engines.
Many thanks

I tried it once in my TLS, the bike ran really bad for the whole tankful, coughing, spluttering, cutting out all the time.
You should be fine using the normal 95 octane, you might notice that the 97/98/99 is only a couple of cents a litres more over there so use that instead.

My current and last 2 bikes ran okay on E10 and your bike will be fine. Some places have E10 and regular 95 and I choose regular on those occasions. This is because you will get fewer miles per tankful on E10 as alcohol has less carbon per litre in it to burn. This reduced tank range has been the only noticeable effect of using E10 on any bike I have ridden in France

We use it, if there isn't any normal fuel available on our annual European trip - bikes run fine on it, but slight drop in mpg.

Recommended fuel for twin cam is 98 octane but can run on 95, but no lower.

I found some 100+ fuel which made a fantastic difference to the bike whilst in Europe.

Oh yes, they love the 100 and 100+ octane fuel, and get it on a few fill ups - but it makes little difference to the mpg over the usual 98, whereas the E10 does.

Shove it in no bother. We have to run with low octane and high ethanol fuel in the USA and although it makes the old girl rattle a bit, there is no problem. Use the better stuff when you can get it.

It can use E5/10 fuels but if you can get proper petrol use that. When i have used E fuels, it runs fine but at tick over it is a little rough and MPG drops.

Engine on the GS is in very low state of tune for a bike engine, and after all it is an "Adventure bike" which means you should be able to fill it up on your "adventures". Don't worry about the E10 which is pretty much here in the UK as well. Hexhead fuel system is ethanol compliant. Engine will run better with better fuel but will not be damaged by E10.

I've been doing a bit of reading up on this (my god you'd want the patience of a saint) and I'm going to experiment with some octane booster to see if it makes any difference to the "vibes" which are beginning to become a very big problem for me (painful hands after long runs)

My hands are also vibe sensitive. My bike is definitely rougher on 95 RON than it is on posh petrol like Shell. It's cheaper to run on posh so I simply avoid 95 unleaded.
Throttle balancing made it smoother at low revs. No difference I could detect at speed or accelerating.
I have fitted some low rise Renthal bars (McGrath bend) on Rox anti vibe risers. These have given me a more comfortable sweep angle and vibes are better - perhaps 50% reduced - without raising the bars. I believe more can be done.

When using 98 in the Alps this year my TC was running well and doing very good MPG.... Given the choice I'd stick the best I can in, but I'd not worry if all that was avalible was 95

Don't get a choice anymore in Ireland. It's either a black nozzle or a green one, no choice of petrol anymore and it's just labelled "unleaded"

Any of the Irish lads know where you can get so called "super unleaded" ?? (I'm based in Naas)

I rode about 500kms between Friday evening and Saturday afternoon and the finger joints on both my hands, particularly my right hand are fairly sore. I have put about 14,000kms on the bike since Feb and my hands seem to be getting progressively worse.
Grip puppies maybe??

Thanks for all the help Guys. Will stick to 98 and only use the E10 if that's all there is. Again many thanks.
Younger06, I found Grip puppies work for me. Used to suffer terrible pins and needles but a lot better with these fitted. Although I think it is a personel choice as I don't think they work for everone.

Cheers, thanks for that. I think I will give them a try.

If you're getting vibration, my first check would be valve adjustment, followed by throttle body balance.

As regards E10 - I'd use it if there was nothing better available, and only then...

Easy to fit, no removing your old ones or sticking new ones in place so worth a try.
Easy to remove if not happy, good luck and hope they work for you.

My valves and throttle balance were done recently. It's smoother at low revs low throttle but vibrates just the same at speed. It runs on ordinary petrol but runs better with posh petrol.
The Diversion 900 vibrated worse but Rox anti vibe risers worked better on that than the GS.
