I was surprised today with 2 updates...Basecamp updates itself to 4.3.3 ( mine was at 4.2.5) and as a result of this you can't use basecamp anymore ( running Basecamp fails with missing DLL error), so you need to uninstall and download full version from garmin.com anyway...

Other nice thing was update for my 2014.40 Europe maps to 2015.10. This took a while to download on my 10Mbit link, but it got there in the end...but it didn't activate my maps for some reasons so I had to re-download them again and it worked second time! Couldn't tell the difference by first glance between old and new...

Since installing latest maps I have only but problems with my Nav V! The problem is currently with rendering topography maps when you zoom out to 30-50mls scale. It either doesn't load it at all, or loads some. Map preview doesn't work in trips as it used to because of that. Anyone else noticed similar problems?

Sounds like you have downloaded the non UK version................. The 2015.10 version is a Unicode NTU map update & wont apply to all countries.

(Unicode version can display cyrillic and some other languages characters and signs (like greek, polish, latvian etc)

you're right. Map installed on device and my computer is NTU! It could be because computer I use at home has polish locale set. I have done updates before on same PC and it always installed new version without problems. Only recently garmin express picked up that my unit is eligible for 2015.10map update... so I did.

Is there any way to go back to non Unicode version? Should I ring garmin to sort it out as it shows 2015.10 ntu on my garmin account as well. ideas?

Non UK version? Even for Garmin a map update that does not apply to all countries is a nonsense I have 2015.10, downloaded it a while ago and before this latest nonsense with Basecamp. The 2015 mapping is on this laptop and our car device, a Nuvi 2495. As far as I can see there are no problems on this device and we have had two guests so far using the 2015.10 on Nav 5s.

Yes, I have always had the NTU versions and have never had a problem. Might be worth reloading your maps

I've done factory reset on Nav V, deleted all maps it had in .System and on external SD, card. Plugged it in my work PC and downloaded all again. This time it loaded non Unicode version (as far as add/remove programs is concerned) and it is still showing same problems! Raised case with Garmin....

Don't hang by the thumbs waiting! Last time I raised a case with Garmin they Emailed back asking for details, I sent them everything they asked for and despite promises nothing has ever come back from them.

Bods on the Zumoforums site with the NTU version are all based outside the UK. GE states 2014.40 up to date for UK.

Why do Garmin go to all the trouble & expense of having 2 different versions of EU maps?

Yes thats correct, as said the Unicode version contains cyrillic and some other languages characters and signs (like greek, polish, latvian etc) & tecman's location is London.

Just because they have a UK version does not make it sensible. There was no mention of versions, unicode or otherwise, when I updated my maps, simply the message that a new version was available.

I am in Germany and my maps are CN Europe NTU 2015.10 on both my BMW Nav V and a Nuvi 3490 for the car

The NT version of the EU map is only being updated twice a year, from garmin forums, NTU 4 times a year. the latest NT map is being loaded to there servers for iminent use.

With all the hassle I've had with map updates I really don't want to bother again

I have just got a Nav 4 with life time maps but it says 2014.4 is the latest map! Is this correct for the Nav 4 or should I get 2015.1??
