Europe 2015.10 available and new basecamp as well

I have just got a Nav 4 with life time maps but it says 2014.4 is the latest map! Is this correct for the Nav 4 or should I get 2015.1??

That would appear to be the case. If you plug a more modern device into your PC and check for updates then a 2015 version is available. We have just put the 2015 mapping our 660 to see what happens.

The Nav 4 isn't as new as a Nav 5 but mine was bought new in December so should still get the lattest maps? They shouldn't treat it as old just because it's been out since 2009!

John, It would have been better to connect 660 with 2014 maps to GE to see if would offer 2015 maps as an update. I've no doubt either map will work fine.

BMW Nav IV GPS Map updates

I spoke to Garmin this morning regarding update Maps for the unit and they said the update for the BMW Nav IV is due by the end of this month or early next month.

I also run a BMW Nav V which uses a different Map update (NTU not NT) and that is why you can't update the current Map 2015.10 on the Nav IV.

It is good to learn that the Nav IV will still be updatable!

We have put 2015.10 on a 660 which is essentially the same as a Nav1V so I don't think your statement is true. Certainly you can't from the Garmin site, our map came from another source. We have fond no issues yet but the latest maps have only been on thee a week or so.

I was referring to Garmin updates - don't use any others in case things go wrong and with "lifetime" updates why use others?

I agree if you have the updates, but not everyone does. Personally I use openstreetmaps for my bike device. I use Garmin for the car device because it came with lifetime updates. The person here using a 660 knows how to restore his old maps if anything goes wrong but "going wrong" is, I think, just scaremongering. All he has is an unlocked version of the latest Garmin maps that differ only in not needing an unlock code to make them work on the device.

I believe it's called a Pirated copy.
