We've just come to the end of day 7. There's 14 more days to go and we're about to cross the border from Italy into Austria.

I'm uploading photos at the end of each day to Flickr in case anyone wishes to see them............

Any Tossers out there got any 'must see' places or hotel recommendations for Austria/Germany.

I was rather hoping to draw from people's personal experiences rather than a Google search.

Thanks anyway. :beerjug:

As I said, Germany and Austria are very big countries. As nobody (least of all you) know where you will be on any one day, it's tricky to recommend sites to see / corresponding hotels to stay in anywhere reasonably close to the sites.

Both countries are littered with hotels, ranging from Five Star through to very basic pensions and guest houses. You will struggle not to find something to suit your itinerary and purse.

As to personal recommendations versus an Internet Google search? Most website listings are nothing but personal recommendations and suggestions, submitted by maybe multiple thousands of individuals, not limited to the three or so bods who can be bothered to reply via UKGSer. Sit down with your PC when uploading your mass of pictures and surf away. You will find something to suit you.

You could also use the Search function of UKGSer's Travel section. Loads of suggestions available at the push of a button.

Me? I suggest hotels in the Black Forrest and seeing the castles of Mad King Ludwig on the Rhine. The glories of Vienna are not to be missed either.

Down near Obersalzberg is the Rossfeld Road.

http://www.rossfeldpanoramastrasse.de/

The roads around here are great, and if you slope off the 'main' road on onto the small single track roads, grab a picnic and sit on the side of the hill looking at the Salzburg range, without a single tourist or another vehicle passing by.

As a massage is needed, after sitting on a 1200. Pop over to the spa Alpentherme in Bad Hofgastein, Austria, then relax in the outdoor pool with another great mountain backdrop view.

We rode up there after escaping the tourist hordes waiting to visit the Eagles Nest. Very pretty indeed

From a Google of 'best motorcycle roads Germany' loads of ideas come up... Here's one....

http://www.germany.travel/en/leisure-and-recreation/scenic-routes/german-motorbike-route.html

At 10,000 kms you may not do it all. Click on 'please select' to pick up bit sized sections.

The site really is very good. I have now saved it for possible future inspiration.

Seriously, there is a wealth of information out there. Blogs, personal websites, hotel suggestions (often the hotels have all sorts of route recommendations, too) thinly veiled advertisements..... All you need is a bit of imagination and an Internet access.

Thanks Dave

That place will have to go into my 'to do' book. Thanks very much.

Unfortunately we stayed at a place just up the road so it was too late to visit the Weisseespitze.

Enjoy your trip in June.

Cheers
