Howdy,

We are headin to France in the car in a couple of weeks and was wondering if any one has heard of, or used www.breakdowncover.ie ? They have 5 star european cover for 79 euro for the year. I got a quote from the AA for nearly 200 euro for just the 2 weeks!!
Breakdowncover.ie seems very cheap, just wondering if they are any good, or if anyone has had experience with them, good or bad.

Thanks.

got it last year for a trip to spain.
Think their office is in Blanchardstown so you can actually speak to someone.

I didn't have to claim off them, but they are underwritten by AXA Assist so have big company backing.

It's handy as you can change details online so can swap between different bikes are cars easily for no charge.

Looks good for France.

For anyone else considering it, check the countries covered: EU only so no cover in Switzerland or Norway. The other countries like Andorra etc won't be too much of a problem as you could easily make it to a border crossing with a little bit of assistance.

i have built in euro breakdown cover on my carol nash bike policy, is there a need to spend xtra casheroony?

No. It's a very good policy. Three friends have used it in the last couple of years. All of them on their way to/from the Eleffantreffen in Bavaria. Two were flown home after their bikes were deemed beyond economic repair[1] and the other was given a Smart car to complete his holiday whilst his sick Moto Guzzi was repatriated seperately.

[1] one crashed his 20 year old VFR750, the other had a fire in the loom of his Tenere. Both sold for spares to German dealers.

I have the same bike policy as yourself with carole nash with the european breakdown cover, but its my wife's policy on the car (axa) and they will cover us for driving in France but wont provide any breakdown cover at all...
It's a 10 year old car so I think it might be worth it, if even just for the peace of mind..

I think that I will give them a buzz so. If they are underwritten by AXA it should be all good. Nice to know someone has used them before.
Seems a good deal........
