My free 2 year cover has now run out. Can anyone recommend some breakdown cover for a 9 day trip to Spain on my GS. Ideally if you have had to use the service.

Who are you insured with? My Carole Nash insurance policy includes European breakdown cover. I'm half way through a Spanish trip (left the bike there and flew home to do some work!) and the pal that went with me cancelled his old insurance and re-insured with Carole Nash because all in it cost substantially less than taking out separate breakdown cover!

Breakdown cover

RAC never let me down got the bike home from Italy after I broke a collar bone, bI flew home and left it there.

I had great service from the Carole Nash breakdown. Admittedly that was a car - and in the UK. :o

But I could not fault the service so the bike has remained with Carole Nash pretty much from Day One.

Carole Nash were faultless for me when broken down in Italy a few years back.

Their cover provided an extension to our Hotel accom whilst an assessment was being made for how long repairs would take.
Taxi to Hotel/Airport Italy
Flight home. (2 persons)
Taxi UK Airport to Home.
Taxi/Hire Car UK to Airport.
Flight back to Italy (single/1 person) to be repatriated with the bike.

It doesn't get much better than that, imo!:thumb2

I have the full UK/European breakdown/recovery cover within my insurance policy; would be worth checking your policy....:D

Found myself in need of assistance to get my K12 back to the Beemer Garage in Le Mans after a breakdown once. Good service and prompt action.

Not the cheapest but when you're in the sh*t they get the job done which is what it's all about.

Fluff.

Another happy Carole Nash customer here, Ill be using their Euro breakdown cover for a trip in October.

Been with Carole Nash about 8 years now. I have been lucky the GS has never let me down.

Really really long thread.......

But after following it I decided ADAC was the only answer. (trust me, it's worth reading the thread)

German version of the AA, but available all over Europe or the world!

World's largest fleet of air ambulances in case you decide to have a big "off" and can't get home the normal way.

Bike or car will be shipped home after an accident or illness, whilst passengers get a flight home.

Apparently it's a club, not a policy.

Been a member since January but not needed their services. Apparently it's a vehicle I'm travelling in is covered regardless of who's driving, so mates are covered too.

Dual membership for me and my wife was about £100.

As a biker it was a no brainier. I needed cover for an 8 day Euro bike trip plus a family 12 day trip to France in the car.

Prob gonna cost me £40 for each of the 2 trips, but I've got 24 hour breakdown at the AA top level cover into the mix and it's for me and the wife.

Worth reading the thread. I'm now a member of ADAC.

Me too.

Once you have the breakdown cover you can take out travel insurance for less than 20 Euro's a year.

With ADAC there are no restrictions on bike hire size - so you are not stuck with 125's. A few years ago I rented a 1200GS for 10 days in Spain and the cheapest cover I could find was more than £100 for a single trip.

Give 'Vehicle Rescue Direct' a look. They were good value and had good reviews when I used them recently, though happily I haven't needed to test their services out.
