Picked a pub yet?

To gather in before, and fight in later? - or straight to the trough?

I was getting commercial road and commercial st mixed up thinking of :boobies earlier. Browns etc. is miles away.

Beer for the curry/kebab

As Nadeem mentioned the Lahore doesn't serve beer....but there is a little shop over the road where you can get some cans/bottles of beer before going in....or during your meal....or before pudding....or after! :thumb

I found these reviews on the Lahore on the web.......

Web Reviews & Comments*
My son in law is Indian and he recommended Lahore to me. It is a brilliant way to end an evening. No frills, but exceptionally good food especially Friday (Chop Night) They are the best, there were 16 of us all trying deperately to be polite and not eat more than our share...lol The only place that the food has been bettered was Veeraswamys in Regent St.. but at 10 times the price.

want some real flavours ??? - this is it !!, an old frind of mine also on holiday in London dragged me to LKH for dinner, we were 4 adults and 2 kids and drummed up a bill for only £18 (yes for all of us inc the soft drinks), we had everything like the salads, mint chutney, mixed grill, lamb chos, the shis kebabs, tikkas, garlic naans, the famous chicken biryani, it was just gastronomic !! LKH is a Halal establishment, which means that in mosty cases Halal retsurants dont serve booze, but this one allows you to bring your own hard liquor or wines, we brought our bottle of Australian Red Shiraz Cabernat which went down with the food like a dream....in my 10 day stay in london in April 2004, I ate at LKH twice, on the 2nd occassion we were 3 adults, the bill worked out to £15. - DONT MISS OUT ON LAHORE KEBAB HOUSE !!!! its cirtainly not the Beverly Hills type diet food....but if your in the mood for some serious hogging after a good drink and fresh fresh babecued meat kebabs ..this is the place mate !!!

As a Panjabi Indian , I can certsinly say this food almost reaches my mums standards. This place is for people wo want to try real Panjabi Indian/ Lahori Pakistani food not the Bangali type that is served in all restraunts that claim to serve indial food. Apart from my mums food I only eat indian food in this restaurent.

The food at the original 'cheap pakistani sit-down' is always very good. You only have to dine at more traditional curry establishments (waiters in bow-ties, sitars in the background etc) to realise how misguided those places are and how good the food at Lahore is. It's not just that recipes are authentic but that lamb, chicken, fish or whatever you decide to eat is cooked to perfection and that the quality of produce they use is evidently excellent. Look no further for a curry house you'll eat at forever.

Hi, I read all the reviews and thought I would give it a go ! I think that this place is more of an urban myth The food was ok and that’s it, anyone who thinks That this is the best Asian food they have had needs to get out more often !

This isn't for poseurs obsessed with the unimportant stuff, it's for genuine food lovers. It's simply brilliant and cheap into the bargain.

I decided to share this little gem with a group of friends a last year. They don't really know much about Indian food and look to me for guidance ALL the time - and I certainly didn't disappoint. Even my sister dished praise on our mutton curry and divine tandoori fish and she normally only eats at McDonalds. I know virtually all the best curry houses in town but this is the best.

even a bunch of vegetarians enjoyed it! great food and polite service....simple...superb

The best curries and kebabs in London - totally addictive and extremely good value.

The food is out of this world. Limited menu but everything on it is amazing. The grilled lamb chops are simply the best I have ever had. They are also opening up more restaurants around the capital.

They have now opened another branch in Hendon North West London, it only took me one visit and I was an addict, they have not been open long and already we are treated like regulars we havea joke with them, it serves as a five times a week takeaway for myself and eating in is amusing the service is kind but a little lacking. Unbelievable food though have not had better so far. try the Chicken Korahi, Taarka Dahl, Samosas and get those lovely roti that are cooked thresh on the spot!

Outstanding value for money, possibly the best kebabs you are likely to eat. timing is variable and the service always full of character

excellent food from fairly short menu; its "cheek by jowl" brasserie environment is somehow charming; service varies but is always "interesting"; yes the locals use it a LOT - but then so do I and many of my friends : regularly. It won E/S restaurant of the month sometime in mid 2000.

Excellent cheap food. Good, tasty dishes served quickly and efficiently in this unassuming cafe off Commercial Road. Ignore the appearance and go for the food.

It sells possibly the best mutton curry and tarka dahl I have ever tasted. You know a place is good when it is full of local pakistani residents

This cafe has possibly the best meat dishes in London. The Meat and Chicken Korahi are excellent as are the Kebabs and Chicken Tika. Used by the local Pakistani community, you often see the local police dropping in for a takeaway!

Must say I'm quite looking forward to trying this place!

There aren't really any pubs worth mentioning nearby, so I suggest that we meet up there at 7.30 - bring your favourite tipple and we can sit & have a laugh in the restaurant... :thumb

Happy Birfday in advance to Mister Fanum sir - does that mean you're going to be older than me? ;)

Can't make it but I'll be raising a glass to your health, hopefully in Cornwall. :)
