Everything is fine

My almost 3 year old GS looks like new (if I clean it!) except for blueing of the exhaust downpipes. Its only done 13,000 miles but everything works, even the fuel tank level. I'm very happy with it and every time I ride it I enjoy the ride, whether its 4 miles or 400.

No , you are missing the point , I would expect this bike to do 50,000 miles without any thing major, my point is I want the higher mileage riders to post what issues they have had , if any, to give us lower mileage riders an indication of how good the bikes can be.
I have only had my bike 7 months and I think 6000 miles is not bad in that time considering my main vehicle , a mercedes sprinter has clocked 12,000 in that time as well

These bikes can easily do 100K but the rear shock will be gone by 30K. The front may go to 50K. Final drive internal bearings and U/Js are likely to be worn by 50K so budget a rebuild. Swing arm bearings about 50K. Smaller stuff like fuel strips and controllers can fail any time but are not show stoppers.

TBH apart from the weak final drive I dont think any of this is too bad. Any performance shock will need a rebuild every 12K so 30K untouched isnt bad going.

25000 miles and honestly trouble free - 2011 GS. I think its because it is a Triple Black!!

I know we have a lot of threads on here about people's problems with their bikes and to be honest it makes informative but depressing reading , so to lighten the mood I though I would start a thread about not having problems and the mileage you have ridden trouble free....here's mine
2012 1200 GS now on 17000 miles
After my rear oil seal leak episode , 6000 miles with no problems at all

Mine has 50K miles but apart from the frame corrosion knackered final drive shaft and FD bearings not forgetting failed coils it's been ok.
My 97 Yamaha 900 was more reliable but I still prefer the GSA

Ah. THAT Mr Bendy Toy - sorry, penny's just dropped

(to explain to fellow GSers, I'm another ex-TDM900 Carpedian)

Hi BT :friday

Praise for the 1200GS

Did 31000 trouble free miles on my old 2009 GSA....they aint all bad....

yeah, but that is still low mileage IMHO. that's less than than one chain life on my TDM900 (I changed that and sprockets at 33000), which lets face it is a budget bike. It went through three winters commuting and looked like it had come out of a showroom when I sold it.

This GS I have is really good on tyres - 9000 miles from the rear so far...I've NEVER had that before, my KTM990 was 3500, TDM about 4000 - 4500.

But the rear shock on this GS collapsed at 18000 miles (80 miles after I bought it from Canon Motorcycles). Rediculous. There's a little bit of play on the rear wheel side to side - but within tolerance (bikes on 27000 now) but I just find that a little crap. The bike is fantastic to ride, its comfortable, and quick enough for my back road riding - but I always have niggles in my mind about the shaft drive and the expense involved for a rebuild.

Do I like the GS. Yes. Would I buy another. No. Sorry.

i am having lots of trouble with mine 104,000 and i still have to keep putting petrol in the damm thing and new tyres ever 10,000 miles,

A sedate 23000 miles, registered 2011, the danger sign of imminent engine failure was cured by moving the aux light back to the normal position which removed the vibration.
The second issue which involved strange handling at speeds over 85mph was cured by stowing by fold up chair other than 90 degrees to the rack.

Spares fitted to date - main headlight bulb.
