Evo/Servo brakes.removal?

I dont know much about the servo/evo brake system fitted to te ABS bikes only that there is a lot of controversy at the moment.
I was just about to buy a 1150GS so equipped.
Does anyone know if the servo can be removed with or without the ABS?
I must admit that this is putting me of buying a GS as all the second hand ones I can afford seem to have ABS.

it's the servo thats the problem, not the ABS

If your buying second hand, There are non servo ABS bikes.

I have been offered a good p/ex deal if I buy this particular bike that is why I am trying to find out if the servo is removable.

Only 52 plate bikes from around November 2002 and later have servo. The easy way to tell is to look for a headlight/sidelight switch. If it has one it isn't a servo bike. Like Steptoe says there should be lots of non-servo bikes around.

abs

abs is a great job it saved me good one on one occasion especially in sardinia when a car pulled out in front of me and my other half.
i would reccomend it and its one of the thin gs that takes away from the ktm.

I like the idea of ABS its just this servo thing that puts me off.
Do you really need servo assist on a bike?

Electric Servo brakes are completely pointless, and dangerous, the standard non servo brakes have more feel and work just as well. I suspect that the Servo bikes will suffer badly with brake reliability issue as the bikes get older. A friend with an RT is just having the whole servo system replaced under warraty by Pidcocks after having the brakes fail, he ended up with his feet dragging on the floor in a futile attempt to stop the bike because the residual braking without the servo just isn't up to stopping a two up bike travelling at speed.
