EWS/Ringantenna trouble again! Advice needed.

I knew I was onto something when I replaced mine,(06 no dealer recall)drilled the crap shear/tamper screws off and fitted the 247 part number with normal M8 allen screw so new can be fitted by the side of the road in 15mins.So no messing with 2 keys and tape etc;)

Bin, I recently bought a set of JML (useful tat company) screw extractor bits for use in a cordless drill in reverse. If you had a set you might be lucky enough to remove the offending items if there is enough of the bolt showing?

Or you could try left-handed drill bits?

I won't recommend using eezi-outs as I hate using the damned things on small fasteners, they usually snap and make things worse.

Thanks Parky, Thanks Pukmeister, luckily show is over, except to get two M8 socket screws tomorrow.

Had Friday spin with chaps and then set about sorting out broken screw.

To remove the top plate you need:
Strap to tie front wheel to exhaust crosspipe.
13/16" or 21mm ring spanner and 7mm Hex bit, to undo the mega-tight centre bolt.
14mm hex-socket (better than 12-point for this job, nuts are shallow) and 19mm openjaw spanner to undo the fork leg top bolts.
E10 (female torx socket) to undo the handlebars.

To get the wee stump out, I drilled through it 9/64", then bashed a torx bit T20 into the hole. Then heated it seriously with blowlamp and luckily the broken stump unscrewed.

Worth reading how to put the handlebar clamps back. Reprom says:

Install clamping blocks (2) with screws (1). Note that it is essential to install the screws in the correct sequence: Install the front screws (as viewed in the forward direction of travel) first, then the rear screws.

Steel handlebars to fork bridge, M8 x 30, 1st front, 2nd rear -> gap at rear only (as viewed in forward direction of travel)

I have fitted the ign switch back using 2 M8 30mm screws until I get a pair of socket headed screws M8 25mm

Feck doing all this at the side of the road.

Worst came to worst, and you need to get a new antenna on without having T10 bit for the wee cover screws, you can break the bastard off I am sure. this lets you get at the antenna connector to unplug it and plug into the new one.

You have got the plastic key cabletied onto the frame somewhere, haven't you?.....
