I'm finally going to get my hands on my Off Road Skills GS on Friday, I put a deposit down in January, I hope it's been worth the wait :eek

Has anyone else picked up their's from Bahnstormer yet?

Thanks Andre.
I'm not sure which parts they've replaced, I'll ask them when I collect it.

Are they half price !

I thinks i have enuff parts now to build a second bike.

I went over to Bahnstormer yesterday to get the bike and took it out for a spin before handing over the cash. Good job I did, the gearbox had a fault, it would stick in gear and not change down. I know there are bikes with dodgy gearboxes out there but this was definitely knackered! Bahnstormer are going to investigate.

Other than the gearbox, the bike didn't really blow me away compared with my twincam, maybe I'll need more time to get acquainted.

What a pain. I assume they're fixing it before you actually hand over the cash? Make sure you take it for a proper two hour test ride first, and if you're not happy, don't buy it.:rob:thumb

I haven't handed over any money yet, other than the deposit, but I will definitely make sure I have a long test ride.

I found the handlebar position a bit strange, they seem to be a lot higher than my previous GS's, anyone else find that?

They may well have been raised by the ORS to make it easier when standing on the pegs. Look at the markers next to the handlebar clamps - there is a range of adjustment there.

Ah, that might help, thanks. Is the adjustment under the top yoke?

 No, the handlebar clamps, slacken of 2 bolts on each clamp and rotate the bars back towards the rider by a couple of degrees and try out the position, not enough? repeat the process ;)

If Bahnstormer had given this bike a test ride as opposed to a cursory glance the gearshift problem would have been evident, is it possible they've missed something else? Ask them and tell them your reasons for asking.

Oh OK, so they rotate rather than go up and down, that should help as it felt very 'sit up and beg'.

I am disappointed that Barnstormer didn't test the bike properly before handing it over to me, especially as they've had hold of it for a couple of months. It's in their hands now to rectify the matter.

I think you're cutting them a lot of slack...........

Doesn't sound like they take their business seriously......

This is their last chance as far as I'm concerned, it feels like I'm being treated slightly second class because I am buying an ex ORS bike.

If you've already got to this stage it's time to walk. There are plenty of other bikes for sale, including ex ors bikes. My dealer gets them from time to time.

Reading this thread again Paul, I'd tell Bahnstormer to cancel the order. You've waited over 4 months for the bike, and it sounds like there are more problems with it, and maybe more to come, so just walk.

As you know, a couple of years ago, the ORS bikes were a bargain, but those days are gone.:rob Factor in your time, money, hassle factor, and if you want an LC, you'd be better off getting an ex demo or regular second hand one.:thumb

sorry , but unless its alot (really alot , like 50 %) cheaper , why would anyone buy a used bike from an Off Road Riding school ?

aren't they trashed to the hilt ?
.

You also have to factor in the lower value when you come to sell it yourself as its an ex-ORS bike. Would the overall depreciation be much less than owning a similar aged regular secondhand bike ? Add to that the cost of fixing cosmetic issues and I'd question if it's really worth it.
