A personal recommendation……

Having struggled to find a 100% waterproof solution to staying dry in the heaviest downpours, I finally found what I’m looking for in my new Scott Ergopro waterproof jacket which I learnt about on motolegends. I ended up buying from my local J&S due to being pushed for time.

You wear them small as they are elasticated, so I bought a size M despite being an XL or 54 in my riding kit. It fits snugly as a rubberised over layer above your riding jacket, stopping even the heaviest rain from penetrating.

I’ve stayed 100% bone dry over hundreds of miles in torrential rain last week. Never happened before.

I normally wear some cheap plastic builders over trousers but I’m now tempted to find a pair of Scott trousers to match my jacket.

I’m off to Greece on Tues, leaving at 5am, with rain forecast all the way between here and Ancona, so it’ll be a great test for the Ergo jkt/ trousers combo… I’m hoping it’ll be as good as you say.

Usually in the UK I ride in the Rukka waterproof leathers but on a foreign jolly I like to wear my Mesh gear which of course leaves me susceptible to getting wet through so I bought the Scot ergo jacket and of course I had to use it and it was , as you say, perfect so I too am considering the trousers to go with it

I've got the Scott jacket and also the trousers. I've used them whilst commuting in fairly heavy rain with no leakage at all. Highly recommended.

Another vote for the Scott Ergo kit. I went one size down on the jacket, but normal size on the trousers. This combination is really comfortable over a pair of single layer jeans and Klim Marrakesh jacket.
However, being elasticated at the bottom of the trousers, they work better with longer boots, as they tend to pull up a bit with leg movement.

I find the trousers a bit short in the leg. They only just stay over my Daytona Roadstar boots. I normally have trousers with a 32 or 33 inside leg. Apparently ladies Scott trousers are longer in the leg size for size. And Scott do do some oversize trousers but send them to the uk though.

I had the issue of the trousers being a bit short (when wearing short boots) and can confirm a pair of the ladies cut ones from MotoLegends solves the problem 👍🏻

You, @Bounce. @Arsey my wife and many others have all to say same thing. For anyone still contemplating, Just get!
Not cheap but you won’t regret it doing so when the rain starts.
I used my wife’s jacket last October. It wasn’t going to rain? But early morning was very misty. I wore Tog24 Duck Down puffer jacket under my Rukka Mesh jacket, then Scott Ergopro jacket over the top. I was superbly comfortable, knowing that I’ve had the ability to remove layers as the day progressed and it got warmer.

Bought both jacket & trousers ahead of a trip later in the year, but were used on the mini break to Germany last week.

Sizing - M for both garments which fit snugly (no flapping material) & comfortably as the material does stretch.

Thank god I did have them; as has been mentioned, the garments kept me bone dry & once the rain had stopped the exterior dried out really quickly. The interior of the garments stayed dry throughout with the fabric 'breathability' claim appearing to be true.

I spent a fair few hours on Saturday giving the bike a detailed clean and have applied a couple of coats or hydrophobic wax....all ready for riding to get it serviced on Friday (forecast is.....rain just for a change ☔).

I assume it was pissing it down most of the week for you too Keith?

Hi Adam

Monday afternoon saw a biblical downpour for 40 mins; it was a little scary at times .

Tuesday was drizzle on/off through the day, but temps were around 20°c.

Weds morning 1st thing was heavy, then gradually eased as we headed west back to the Chunnel terminal.

Really impressed with Scott kit…bloody glad it was with me.

Had very similar- probably what the Scott are copies of from Hein Gericke years ago. Bought whilst in Germany from the shop in Limburg.
These were for over leathers complete with knee slider openings and full length zips.
Never leaked. Ended up wearing the jacket out and it losing the seam seals eventually as it delaminated.
Not a model that ever came to the uk.

How are you finding them?
Very good TBH they are as it says on the tin waterproof as tested in some very heavy rain a year or so ago on the way to Plymouth ( 300 miles of biblical rain) a bit of water managed to go up the inside front of jacket but other than that ..

They are quite heavy tho and warm as although it looks like perforated leather it isnt, they are substantial and stiff when new but they are getting better with age and quite comfy

I bought a Scott Jacket at J&S Waterlooville for exactly the same reason just before a trip to the Lake District last year and it was biblical for the whole trip and it kept me dry and is super comfy - I’m tempted with the Klim Marrakesh jacket with a down liner, I reckon that combo could cope with just about anything.

Well the way I see it, if it lasts me for three years or more for £90 it will have done its job.

Its hopefully not going to see too much use anyway as my Enduroguard suit is a match for most normal weather (just not endless torrential rain.)

The confidence of remaining 100% warm and dry in the heaviest persistent downpour is very reassuring.

As for Rukka, I lost confidence in them about a decade ago with the rubber zip fiasco...... A thousand quid plus for an unreliable suit with lengthy warranty repair versus about £180 for a casual use throw-over jacket and trousers.

I’ve a Scott Ergo pro, wife has Rainlock suit of about 6years vintage, which is similarly slightly stretchy. I have an older rainlock jacket in the garage which isn’t stretchy but I prefer the Scott now because of the stretch even though the cuffs on the rainlock are vastly superior. Wife though prefers her stretchy rainlock because it’s stretchy, the cuffs are easier, and she wears it with the hood up under her helmet. No rain down the neck see, and keeps her hair dry. Plus off the bike if it’s still raining the hood is up. The rainlock suits do indeed have a lot going for them.

This. I know at least three bods who have trashed the cuffs. BMW Rainlock is vastly superior IMHO, regardless of what the Twat in the Cap says…

Luckily for me my Enduroguard suit has an elasticated hood that already takes care of preventing rain down the neck.
