I never thought i'd be asking this...

Ive got a new Leo Vince end can with a removable baffle.
The locking screw has been removed, but...
for the life of me i can not get the baffle out.
It is stuck solid....!!
What am i doing wrong - surely it should just pull out..???

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Andrew

Not sure about Leo Vince cans but the arrow can I bought for my tiger was tacked in. The arrows i got for my street tripe just had a screw. I was advised by my triumph dealer that new regs meant they had to be secured in. That might just be for OEM parts though. They said they would remove it if I wanted.

Have you checked for any weld spots?

No weld spots - i've checked the drawing and there should be nothing stopping it coming out.
Its just well and truly stuck. Question is how do i loosen it and get the bugger out?

This video (not me unfortunately) shows what i'm trying to achieve.
This guy already has the baffle part of the way out.

To be fair it looks like he's been leaning hard on the inner part of the baffle judging by the creases in it...

It needs to be tapped out from the other side, could use a broom handle. Or, if its on the bike already, put a threaded rod down it, with a nut / washer on the end. Then clamp the rod with mole grips, catch the end of the baffle with the washer and tap it out by tapping the mole grips.

They can be a bit tight, try not to damage it though! Trial and error they all seem to be different, might help knocking it in slightly?

I'll have a go doing that!!
Didn't even give that a thought as it was all bolted on to the bike.
Just got back from a quick test and with the Mivv headers and baffle in its quite tuneful already..!!!

I've always found an old broom handle does the trick. Cut a notch into the side of the handle near the end, then pop it into the can through the baffle. Move it so that your notch catches on the inside edge of the baffle, then work the handle up and down to gently tease the baffle out. (essentially you are using the notch to catch on the baffle inside the exhaust then pulling back while moving it from side to side to draw out the baffle). Not exactly scientific, but seems to work.

Take care, but worked for me on a Yoshimura and my current Termignoni.

Good luck.

That broom handle trick is a great tip :thumby:

I have removed a couple from Akrapovic exhausts which were bolted in - mole grips over a cloth and wriggle - patience is your friend here.

I had a couple of Remus to remove which were tack welded in, but very light weld which didn't take much effort to break and the baffles came out no problem. Enjoy the challenge ;)

Mivv Headers and Leo Vince end can (baffle out) is the same setup of me. I love it!

I've got a slight issue with the headers not sealing properly against the exhaust gasket and they're blowing slightly.
You only notice the raspy noise when accelerating hard and passing a solid object where the sound reverberates back at you..
Knowing how loud the end can is with the baffle in, i can only imagine how much louder it will be when the baffle is out.

Oh thats a pain! Not had any issues with mine at the header. There is however a slight bit of carbon deposit on that front balance bar. Its made to slot together but i see no reason you couldn't put some gun gum in there to seal it. Could that be where yours is leaking too?

Insert a set of right angle pliers through the end of the baffle and gently tap out from the inside by pulling outwards. You could also squirt the joint with Loctite release agent.

Theres more carbon deposit on the right side connecting tube of mine. The balance pipe seems ok.
I've managed to reduce the horrible raspy noise by taking the old rusty GS header nuts off and putting the new Mivv nuts on.
It seemed the old rusty ones didn't tighten up as much as the newer nuts. Definitely an improvement.
Just got back from a weekend away on the bike and was amazed how quiet the end can is when cruising at motorway speeds on a constant throttle.
However, as soon as you crack open the throttle the bark is very impressive.
Now i'm back i'll be looking to remove that baffle....

Unfortunately, i haven't got any of those.
I'll be whipping the can off and shoving a broom handle up there to remove it...
