Hi all,
I swapped out OEM exhaust and cat for an aftermarket exhaust (dominator) on my r1150rt 2004.

Pops like buggery when decelerating, I found a thread where removing the motronic relay helped, and it did, but still pops.

So apart from that is there anything else I might do to stop the fat old lady from farting excessively?

Thanks for any suggestions !!

Cheers
Brian

Air getting in or just the fact that the cat and silencer do a lot of silencing...😉

And/or it's running a bit weaker/rougher with the open system on....? Did it keep the lambda?

Perhaps fat old ladies were meant to be quiet...😆

Every r1150 or 1100 that I've encountered pops and bangs on the overrun with the cat removed and/or an absorption tube type silencer....Remus and the like.

Unburnt fuel into a hot exhaust, with somewhere that oxygen is also getting in = combustion in the exhaust. It’s down to a couple of things; fuelling map at that throttle opening and ECU setting, and an air leak somewhere that allows it to suck in air on the overrun. Mine does it just when I crack the throttle after engine braking and apparently can look quite impressive from behind at night… I admit that it feels a bit antisocial sometimes and I’d rather it didn’t do it, but the trade off is worth it for me.

I’m sure it’s weaker and rougher with the new exhaust / no cat setup - lambda not kept - she just sounds dicey, burping and farting so much these days, signs of incontinance!

I’ve had 3 1150’s and every one of them has popped on the overrun, especially with after market exhaust components.

I'd just enjoy it, gotta love when these big twins pop and burble on the overrun. lovely stuff.
