exhaust popping

Running along with another GS both with aftermarket pipes we sounded like a WW2 bomber as the engined notes hummed and throbbed. No other bikes sound like that. :)

My Akra system now has a fairly open baffle in one can and a full fat dB killer in the other. It still pops like a goodun but now doesn't wake people in the next village.

The Afriflow system I had on my bike until very recently was a straight copy of the Akrapovic 2-into-1-into-2 system, in stainless steel.
I must admit, I didn't like it. It weighed a ton and actually cost power.
I retained the Afriflow headers with de-cat, and had Tornado Developments graft on a SS/carbon silencer with a slightly longer-than-normal bridge pipe.

You can feel - and hear - the difference. :JB
O joy of joys to live in a country where the filth wouldn't know what a dB meter was if they tripped over one... :D

Having just had my '08 GSA remapped at Hilltop, its perfectly set up for the Remus/Akrapovic exhaust and I can ditch both Accelerator module and Wunderlich Fuel Controllers. I never used to like the Akra with baffle out as the engine stalled a lot. Now it runs so well and the popping and farting is strangely addictive, I'm enjoying the time with baffle out. Not sure about it on the long runs though as the noise can drone on a bit so I'm carrying the baffle with me just in case. Still pops and farts though just a bit quieter.

My '06 does it with the Akropovic exhaust---love it:thumby:

On the subject of exhausts, in my irresponsible youth, I had an ex RAF rally Rover P6 V8 (wish I still had :drool)

In town, totty walking down street, cruise up along side them, ignition off, pump throttle, ignition on......

BANG!!!

Oh the innocent, juvenile fun of it all!!:blast

Mine sounded great in the tunnels on the way down to Italy last weekend:D
