I'm still toying with the idea of having another exhaust. I'm not bothered about loadsa noise but it would be nice for the bike to sound a bit more purposeful. The main thing is, is perormance affected significantly? I'd me mainly interested in mid range poke than outright acceleration or top speed.

So, is it worth it and which should I choose?

Agreed... slight increase in general response... and an improved mid-range umph factor. This's fitted with the original can... will eventually get around to fitting the Remus can as well... but to start with, it's a simple mod. You can fit yourself in a half hour, and it certainly makes the sound a bit more purposeful under acceleration. Don't notice much difference while idleing... I guess I'll need the Remus for that!

Dont break your hand

Dont forget to remove the cat carefully, dont hold it with one hand underneath as you remove the cat. it wieghs a lot and will do some damage if it lands on your hand. I lowered my cat onto a milk crate before putting it on the floor and removing the sensor.

Just for info, I run a remus Y, standard can and techlusion259 and my 1150 goes quite nicely thankyou. :D

Cost..cost and more cost.

Those of you that run cars or bigger will no doubt cringe at £400 plus for an exhaust system for the same vehicle. But most gladly pay £400..ish for a top range can, come on its abit of rolled ally/carbon costing about £4.50 with a small amount of wadding in and some baffle plates at the very most ...total cost including rivets and a nice shiney mounting bracket..approximately £17.00 weld up a 'y' piece just tubing and a cat lug £10.00
Now add labour costs, say £28.00 total cost= £55.00

Oh lets not forget the fitting instructions, sticker and the packaging add another £2.75. There max. profit, cost to manufacture=£57.75 +vat add on the profit element 150% =£144.37

Now whats Joe public going to pay, Art do cans for £120 and Micron sell their's for £230+ lets try adding 150% oh yes thats perfect, £216.55 clear profit for the wholesaler and retailer to fight over. £360.92 + vat = £424.08...sounds like *@#us's price.

There you go you work it out, car exhaust say for a Mondeo equals about £120 complete fitted (without cat) and yes I know there are cheaper around, try £19.00 for a Metro. Now work out who is winning here, thats £360.92 - £55.00 = £305.92 (vat excl.)

Then you'll need the engine management sorted to get rid of the LEAN mixture and resultant other problems so thats another £ 3-600.00 including some set-up dyno time.

You could have one of those meger expensive BMW holidays for the money spent to sound a bit rorty!

Now when the bike gear/accessories sales come round expect to see at least 50% off cans and they'll still be making £108 between the wholesaler and the retailer.

Its only the profit that makes things expensive!
