I Have been thinking about a good way to repair stripped exhaust threads for a while now...Crap day so i have been playing about in the workshop....I have been thinking about this for a while and came up with this way
You now have a new thread thats too small ..
So i could make a new nut to match the undersize thread or if you want to use a standard nut a collar to adapt it back to the correct size...Being made out of brass it won't pick up again
This is the same method that my local engineering shop use - But they also pin the brass sleeve, as they found they will come undone, even in everyday use.
I won't say how much they charge to do the work £££££
I would put a pin in to stop it turning/comming undone...but because this is a scrap head i used just to prove i could do it i didn't bother...I could do this for people if they want...But it is a fair bit of work so would not be cheap...but it would be a excellent repair
Aye that's how mine was repaired, think 40 something squid via Motobins, but 2 pins, one of which is not such a great good as it's come through the alloy a bit. still, does job. Now I'm sure there's a market for you Garry should you get bored
