can anyone tell me:

the difference between the wieghts of the remus and the complete standard can, i think it is alot, so this would make a difference to the overall bike.

So does everyone else. :D

Remus weighs about 2.5 - 3 kilos. Standard weighs about 8 at a guess. Feels bloody heavy when it falls off a shelf onto your foot, breaking bones. (which is why I was limping at Princetown :D)

The Touratech catalogue claims ~ 3.5Kg lighter for the silencer (both Remus and Sebring) compared to stock. Has anyone worked out (or measured) the total weight saved by fitting a Y-piece and Remus?

David

somebody must have one around and be able to weigh ti..

The standard cat and the exhaust weigh 34lbs (15.4 kg)depending on which "can" you fit the weight can vary from 7kg -12kg for Y piece and can

i've now had the cat removed, it was like getting an old wisdom tooth out, it wieghed a ton (you know what i mean)
now, the bike backfires when reved up and the bike wouldnt start, only if i put the chock on, when warm, it run ok, but backfireing, is their anything to be worried about, ?
ive phoned the fiitter at cannons and he said , "its not unusual to do that"??
is it ok, or have i got a prob,
will the carbon fill the gaps and stop it ?

Try loosening everything from the heads backover and put a small amount of exaust sealant around the two headers to Y piece when all settled and in place nip everything up.
You might find that if you are using the original clamps that the alloy stop in the clamp will prevent proper tightening and you may have to remove this

The difference between the weight of the standard can and cat and the weight of the Remus can and Y piece is about 16 pounds, according to my trusty bathroom scales.

Yup, I replaced the stock cat & muffler by a Laser Y-piece & SS Pro d'Or: difference about 8 kg.

Feels a lot better (seat of the pants dyno) and sounds a lot better.

Cheers,
Michel
