Thinking of swapping the standard exhaust on my 1100GS.
Rainbow have an 100 in with a Laser exhaust and chip and they would let me swap my standard exhaust and chip for the laser for a few beer tokens to cover fitting etc.
I am taking the bike out for a ride tomorrow to see what it sounds like as Shaun has said it is louder than a Remus.
Top dealer to offer the swap.
Any opinions on the Laser system and chip would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi Andy, I'm running that setup on my 1100.

Do a search and you will find pages of reading and a few photos.

If they are very very friendly, ask them if they can fit the Lazor and then fit the chip after youv'e used it for a couple of weeks.

I fitted both at the same time so don't really know if the improvements came from the pipe or the chip or a bit of each.

I am still on the original BM airfilter but will change to a K&M next service.

Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks Noddy.
Unfortunately I would need to fit the chip straight away as Rainbow need my exhaust and chip if I go for the swap.
Having a few doubts now though as there seems to be quite a lot of people who ditched the Lazer cos it was too loud!
I also don't want to stuff up my insurance.
Will need to check if it is a road legal can when I test the bike.
Are the Lazers much noisier than the Remus pipes?
Looks like its going to p it down tomorrow so it will make a nice change to dirty someone elses bike up at the weekend!!

Cheers.

Andy,

You've pre-empted my question. Was gonna ask if you have another standard can to go back on when it comes to MOT time, coz if you ain't then your bike's probably not going to pass one.

Unless the garage you take it too are very understanding/friendly/bribable:D

Insurance shouldn't be a problem, just explain that it add's no extra power and it purely for cosmetic reasons.

a remus would be better:)
not as noisy. You dont need to mess with chip and risk breaking pins.

Thanks for all the advice.
Took the bike for a test ride to see if I liked the exhaust.
Decided against it for a few reasons.
Remus was quieter (thanks for the 1150gs rider who started his up in the car park so I could compare) and if I went for the swap I wouldn't be able to put the bike back to standard if I ever needed to.
Although the Lazer didn't say not for road use it also didn't have the markings that I have read about showing it was road legal.
One good thing to come out of this is the fact that I now know that I definately need an after market can!
Remus here we come. (albeit later in the year)
Big thank you to Shaun at Rainbow though for letting me try it out.
Top dealer.

Cheers

You could always just go ahead with the swap, then buy one of the two standard systems in my shed.....:D

Hmmm!
Do you have the standard chips as well?

Thanks but no thanks.
Got my heart set on a nice titanium Remus now.

Cheers anyway.

Bought my 1100 with a lazer and chip, changed it for standard exhaust far too loud, made no difference to performance

I see Colt is selling a Remus system on the For Sale forum but I can't e-mail, pm or post a reply.
Bummer. He only wants £150 for it as well.

Oh well. keep saving the pennies!

??andy dont save spend!whats yor number or email and i ll contat YOU. thats if you are interested.:)

Hey Colt,

Yes I am interested but can you answer a few questions?
Is this all I would need to replace the standard system on my bike?
Is it easy to fit? ie take old exhaust off and put new on. I only ask as the Lazer that I tried from Rainbow had a chip.
Is it in good nick? I was going to buy the titanium one as I heard the alloy looks a bit dull after a while.

My e-mail is [email protected]

Cheers.
