Hello,

Firstly new to the forum, my name is Steve but folkes call me Sven (that's a story for another time) I make some silly often amusing bike related videos on youtube if anyone is interested in a giggle.

Last week I brought a brand spanking new Adventure :D. And the grin I have on my face is as you all know VERY big. :thumb

I also own a Kwak ZZR1400 and a KTM 450 EXC.

So a hearty HELLO! I'm sure I'll be come a regular around here...

Anyway, onto my newbie questions. I made the mistake of picking up from the dealer a "touratech" book. Whilst going through it highlighting all the bits I'd like I pondered why there were no prices.....Then I went on the webstie and compiled my list :eek

A lot of the bits I found much cheaper on the likes of ebay, but what I cannot find is a screen extender.

I'm freakishly tall, six foot five (and a half!) inches. Anyone know where I can find this piece of plastic for less than eighty pounds?

What about a small tank bag, just to fit my camelback, money for toll booths and camera?

Thanks for any help. Can't wait to get touring.

I am 6'4 and have a GSA Screen on my GS1200. Just this weekend got the screen extender from the touratech shop in wales. It's changed the bike at speed. Low helmet noise and I can have the viser up at speed up to 80!! It was really loud before but have had to turn volume down on MP3 player now as the wind noise is so reduced. Its about £80 and I got the non lockable one.. Highly recommend it if you're a long body like me..

Is anyone out there?

Thanks Cheesysalesman, was hoping for a cheaper option.

Mind you I might have to bite the bullet I leave for a trip of epicness next Friday so I don't have long to get it posted to me with bank holidays and wotnot.

Anyone else? Come on guys 250 views and 1 response! :)

If you want a tank bag for your camelback, then how about BMW's own tank bag? The smaller size is £85, and is perfect for something like that.

If you do go that route, be careful that the dealer orders the right one. I turned up at the shop to find that the bag was for the previous model of 1200, and that it did not fit on the newer bikes. The new one has a metal bracket that screws in to the bike below the front of the seat. The old one clipped on front and back.

I can thoroughly recommend the Wunderlich Aschenbecher

Must be the most useful accessory on a bike :thumb

You forgot to mention that you have your seat in the low position. See you at the Marina next Tuesday with Trevor et al to talk more bollox about bikes :D

GSA Screen extender

I am also 6ft 4ins and bought a "Laminar Lip" for my 06 GSA a couple of weeks ago and have been quite impressed. The quality of the part is good and it works pretty well although I am not convinced by the Heavy duty velcro attachments provided - I took the drill and bolt option method having driven up and down a good deal with the thing bulldog clipped in place until I was sure of the height I wanted. They are slightly cheaper than the Wunderlich and the importer lives just outside Liverpool. I got it cheaper yet by driving over to collect in person! Good luck!

I searched for Wunderlich Aschenbecher but all I found was this forum? :(

+1 on the Laminar Lip and I have also used the bolts to mount it rather than the Dual Locks. Generally I'm happy with it - it keeps most of the bugs off my visor and I just get a little wind noise right on top of the helmet. Mostly though it cured the dreadfull buffetting I used to get. Bikes an '08 GSA, the seat is ion the high position and I'm 6'3".

Only real downside is there's no airflow to take rain off the visor and it gets quite warm behind the screen. Tend to keep the visor up much of the time if I'm using the internal sunvisor in the helmet.

cheeky fecker asks....

would someone post me their unused "dual lock" patches please? :D

bust the tall screen on my R100GS / got an old standard screen and a laminar lip - but no dual lock - cant seem to find them anywhere to buy :nenau

personally i'm happy to trust dual lock - used it on a radio set up / mounted to the side of my lid - worked fine.... and i'm tight :P

My limited command of the german language informs me that Aschenbecher is an ashtray!

Therefore Grizly is taking the p*ss!

In the end I opted for a Laminar Lip.

Must say so far I'm very happy with it :clap

Thanks for your help guys. Off on my first Europe trip tomorrow. 6 countries.

And all I see is rain forecast.
