Could someone who has received an 'Extended Warranty' Renewal Letter please post up the offer prices :clap

My bike is about to come out of manufacturers warranty and I haven't received an offer letter (probably due to me being the 2nd owner of a bike bought privately) I am conscious of the fact that there may be two offer prices? One for those that renew via the web-site and one for renewing over the phone :augie

I remember someone here claiming this to be the case a few months ago

It's not like I'm a distrusting bastard you understand. I'd just like the facts before I call them :D

i got mine a few months back and it was best part of £300, binned letter so cant post up.

Buyer beware, the Warranty is through a 3rd party now not direct to BMW.
There is a very distinct list of bits that it does, or doesn't cover.

As a slight aside, ISTR that the monthly warranty isn't transferable eg when you sell it, whereas the annual one is. Whether that applies in quite the same way to an annual warranty but payable monthly (if that's even an option) I don't know. I stand to be corrected on all of this, but if part of your thinking is that it may make your bike more sellable when the time comes, you might get a surprise so it might be worth factoring into your 'knowing all the facts' scenario and asking the question if it matters to you.

I was quoted over £420 per year for a 2014 gsa with zero excess

Does anybody know if they will tailor their quote to be more specific about what you need covered? For example in my case I won't need the engine, clutch or gearbox covered plus I believe they don't cover the suspension after 30k miles so I won't need that either.

I've had a quote by letter for £384 but I think i'll call them and ask!

Nope all or nothing

I took out a warranty for the 3rd year of ownership. the water pump failed and i had to pay £50 excess. In principle that was ok. What was not ok is that this is common failing and paying the £50 for a known fault pissed me off. Spoke to BMW customer services who were not interested. After considering the options (thanks to UKGSER) i have not renewed the warranty for the 4th year. The bike is due an 18k service in the next 4 weeks. Purchased the oil and a hi flo filter for under £50.

Money saved
£420 warranty
£200 18k Service

Money spent £50.

I will have the 24k service done by an independent as it includes checking clearances etc. Took out 5 star breakdown recovery for £60. I still have £500 for repairs. Lets face it lots of parts are now available on ebay. The engines are fairly robust.

I renewed mine last week. I have the letter but I can't scan it. It says......

BMW Motorrad Insured Warranty, including BMW Emergency Service and an excess of £100.

Level of Cover - Over 800cc Monthly Cost - £37.00 Annual Price - 384.99

Please note that cover is not available for motorcycles with mileage over 80000 miles (at the time of purchasing the policy).

Once you've selected the level of cover you require, you can tailor the policy to your own requirements. You can choose whether to purchase an annual or monthly policy - and you also have the option to include an excess. You can select an excess of £0, £50 or £100.

For your personalised BMW Motorrad Insured Warranty quotation and to purchase a policy online, please visit: www.motorrad-warranty.co.uk

Important Note: Please keep this letter to hand - you will need to provide the unique PIN number and login name quoted at the top of this letter, as well as the exact current mileage and vehicle registration number of your motorcycle, in order to obtain an online quotation.

Excellent ... so can you go in to the www.motorrad-warranty.co.uk site and tell me what the cost of a warranty is with ZERO excess? :thumb2

I've called them 3 times so far today and have been left hanging on the line for in excess of 10 mins on each occasion :banghead:

Mine was done over the phone after I recieved the letter . I didn't pay for my 3rd year BMW did and initially they specified an excess on the policy which I declined so mine is now £0 excess.

I just tried but due to me already purchasing an extended warranty, I get this message, "We have found an existing warranty for your bike..........".

Sorry I can't be more helpful.
