Had the 650 for a few weeks now and am noticing the clutch dragging. Its covered 6k miles, the clutch bite point is right at the top of the lever movement and is a very small amount of movement. When lever pulled right to the bar the clutch drags (hard to push the bike). With the bike in neutral and the clutch released the clutch is making a slight rattling noise. The clutch cable is slack when the lever is completley released, so basically the clutch is only biting at the very end of the arm travel, but even when full pulled in the clutch still drags.

Any ideas???

clutch drag

hello, Austen, we have 2 650gs's with no problem, but a friend has one that has your problem. when you pull the clutch lever, the arm that is moved by the cable moves a pin inside the clutch unit, to move the clutch plates in and out, this pin slides through a tunnel, and in this case the fit of those two parts is too tight, with the result that the pin has too much friction, and the clutch performs poorly. could also be that dirty oil particles got in between the two, try a product, (oil additive, removes carbon deposits) to clean the inside of your engine, that might unstick the two. good luck, hans

Mmmm, happy to whip clutch out and clean it up if this is the cause.
