F650 GS twin Sargent Seat.

After recent pain on the stock BMW seat I am thinking of splashing out on a Sergent Seat from Nippy Norman. At around £370 it seems a bit of a gamble and it would be helpful to hear of any other Sargent riders experience.

I had a Sargent seat on a my previous Ducati, me and wifey liked it a lot, trying to find one for the K 1300S on fleabag.

On my F800 GS I have a BMW comfort seat and that's reet comfy too.

I have the comfort seat on my F650 GS twin and after 5000miles I still find it comfy (Oh not 5k all in one go )

Check with your local BM dealer ... think you'll find that the comfort seat is cheaper than the sargent They may even let you try one

vote for the comfort seat
don't bother waiting for one on Ebay, they go for nearly list price

If you like to shift your position about when riding then don't go for the BMW comfort seat. It, like the standard 'WorldSport' Sargent seat, has a bucket shape which keeps you solidly in one position. I went for the Sargent Enduro seat which has the advantage of being flat across the whole seat and which is a vast improvement on the stock 'plank' - takes a while to bed in but was worth the brass IMO.

Or... get an Airhawk. I bought mine about six years ago and I've used it on the 1200GS, 1200GSA, F650GS twin and my Tenere.

Did 960 miles in 23 and a bit hours coming back from central Poland. Couldn't have got half that distance without the Airhawk.

After many tens of thousands of miles or service it sprang a leak on my most recent trip but I used an inner tube puncture repair kit to sort it. Makes a nice pillow when camping.

Tim what size of Airhawk best suits the 650 twin?

I'm using a cruiser medium as that was what best suited the R1200GS. It looks a bit big for the F650/800GS but in practise is fine if you gather the straps a tad.

For the F650/800GS the cruiser small would probably be better.

The other items I've carried over from bike to bike (and have thus also been excellent investments) are the Toucano muffs and gauchos.

Tim's right. I've got 30,000kms on my small cruiser Airhawk and it works like new. Make sure you put the right amount of air in, it takes much less than most people think. I put up with 10,000kms of the BMW original seat and this one $99 dollar addition is the best money I have ever spent on any motorcycle accessory in more than 40 years. I have the PVC version and not the neoprene pricier one. It will literally transform your bike into an all day pain free ride.

another for the air hawk (remember little air)

I cover it with a lamb skin and leave it on (two rachet straps do the job under the seat) works for me










If you was to stand for a while and then sit the cooling effect from the lambskin is cooler than a penguins fridge.

I have the Sargent Enduro seat and love it, I can now do a couple of hours with no pain or problems, I know a lot of people go for the air hawk but I prefer something that is already there without having to add on extras.

Running out of things to do to my bike now, any ideas ?

All praise to the BMW comfort seat, it's a pleasure to sit on the thing and way better than I expected. Cost was £235 from Wollaston, should have been £260 but I kept moaning until they gave me a discount. (Oh why don't they fit these as standard)

Or have it as an option for an extra £40 when you buy the bike. They'd probably make more money with the volume sales, than the occasional expensive replacement.

That cost 80 notes ! feck me that looks superb and hes only up the road from me. i bought the BMW confort seat last week but havent been out on it yet. it certainly feels an improvement on the stock seat. i find it difficult to believe the sargant seat can be worth £390
