FWIW, I discovered today that the 'Touring' version of the F650GS (complete with luggage and other useful bits) has now been deleted from the BMW UK catalogue. You can still get all the bits, but not as a package.

:(

What were the other bits, apart from the luggage?

That being said and having signed up for the Morrocco trip on my 650GS :D , what luggage/equipment/lucky spares would people suggest for this trip  that don't match the cost of a Pari-Dakar entry.

I currently have.......................a BMW tank bag

Has anybody put soft luggage on the 650 without the exhausts burning a hole in them?

Thanks in advance

The F650 Touring has (had) expandable panniers, top box, hand-guards, a taller screen and inner bags for the luggage.

The last one in the country has just been blagged by my SO.

Still Available

Two weeks ago, John Clarke BMW at Tayside had 3 "Tourers" in stock.

Or you could always look in the Touratech catalogue at the TT39 - based on the 650GS, but with any other bits you like built on. Made to order, but Brackens have one you can drool over...

The paint falls off

The expandable panniers have silver paint that falls off and covers that ding at the slightest stone or bit of grit. I'd guess BMW didn't like all the returns and dissatisfied customers? IMHO just another sorry addition to BMW luggage like the touring panniers for the R (full of lock mechanism than jams and won't let you have the key out with the box unlocked, poor hinges, crazy shape).

Throwovers do catch fire on the F650 exhaust, I've seen the results! The paint round the filler cap on the GS cops it too.

I'd fit the touratech rack if you are going the soft luggage route. It also protects the exhaust. The touratech boxes are the ultimate way to go, but you need to be keeping them for years to get your monies worth.

Hi

They've got a new one of these up at Williams in manchester, saw it yesterday, looked alright, but also looked a bit taller than the usual 650
