I have always wondered but wanted to know for sure my bikes capabilities fuel wise so had a nice 549 mile run yesterday of mixed roads and speeds.

During which the tank was filled then run Dry and it run out at 218.8 miles.

The fuel light came on then 49 miles later it ran out.

when the computer showed 9 miles to empty it actualy gave me 23 Miles.

MPG on the one tank I calculate gave 62 MPG :D

fuel calculated over 514 miles averaged 68 MPG:thumb2

Fair play bud, yet to do that to mine. :type

Yes just wanted to know went out for the run with the Guys I'm off to the Alps with. A mixed bunch of bikes, 2 others run there bikes dry.

First to the garage was the triumph bonny on the 10 plate, followed by the Harley Dyna wide glide on the 05 plate, followed by the BMW 1100 Lt on the 2000 plate, followed by mine as for the 1150 GSA well of course he never had a problemb :D

Is that all you managed? Fair enough on a Sunday blast. But the pics show a Harley Ferguson? That's either the fastest Harley in the world, or your maths are wrong!

Do you mean is that all I managed MPG ? :nenau

Yes as stated one of the riders was a Harley :thumb2 and it should have read above that 3 of the bikes (carried spare fuel with the intention to run there tank Dry which they did) 1st to stop for fuel at the garage was the bonny (he was not carrying fuel and refilled when low like you do!) 1st then to run dry was the Harley, then the 1100LT then Mine!

no the maths is good :thumb2

It was more a comment on the average riding speed if a Hardly was with you. with a (verified) top speed of 65mph, then you should have averaged about 90mpg!

Actualy v8legend errrrr your wrong your

the Dynawide glide in question actual has a book top speed of 125 MPH +
1500 + cc of heavy metal :D with a stage 1 kit which a lot have that realy improves acceleration not top end sounds realy nice :thumb2.

and yeah I know I could have got a lot more MPG if I had ridden a lot slower, chosen down hill routes only, tucked in behind the screen, chose a less windy day blah blah blah it wasnt a saving test more of an personal idea of my true tank range in mixed riding situations some of it similar that I expect to do In france if you know what I mean? :D

happy that when my computer says im going to run out of fuel and I do not (better than the other way around) :blast

and when the fuel ligh comes on I know roughly whats left, but i can pair the zumo fuel gauge as that early warning. will help on my Alps trip :thumb2
