Can anyone suggest ways to boost the power of my F650GS. I bgt it in Jul'03 having spent several years away from bikes. I was previously a R1/Fireblade rider but am glad to say that I have seen the light and am now a converted trailie. The BMW off-road course beckons in October!

But I am looking for more power. I had test riden the new F1200GS several times but am put off by the steep price and dubious looks. I don't want to switch from my bike so any suggestions are welcome.

Why have you posted this in dealers?

Have a look in the F650 section of this forum. Repost your query there if these sites do not help:

If you want more acceleration you could alter the sprockets to lower the gearing. You would lose some top speed but this should not matter to you.

Less restrictive air filter.

IIRC there is a catalyst; it may be possible to junk this to release a few bhp.

Increase your power to weight ratio by going on a diet.

Jeremy,

Are you aware that the BMW 650 engine unit is very popular for single cylinder racing?
Just about everything is available,big-bore kits,camshafts,carb conversions,etc.
Suggest you contact Gary or Roger at Denver Motorcycles in Norfolk. 01366 382115.
Gary has been modifying the engines for a good few years and he will have no trouble advising on which options will suit your spec of engine.
