Hesitation, cough, loss of power between 1500-2500rpm F650GS

Hi,

I've got a 2001 F650GS which has done 21000 miles and is in good slightly weathered condition.

If I load the throttle at between 1500-2500 rpm the engine hestitates, jolts or sort of lurches and/or looses power but clears as it goes past 2500rpm.

If I wind on the power very gently this doesn't happen.

Has anyone come across this or do any of you have any ideas. it's driving me up the pictures!

Any thoughts greatfully received.

Try disconnecting the ECU plug or battery, leave it for 20 mins before reconnecting.

Turn ignition on, wait for light to go out and start without touching the throttle.

The only other thought I've had involved a gallon of fresh petrol and a cheap lighter!
