Hi woooodentop,

Strangely enough if I had not bought the new F650GStwin I would have gone for the new Honda transalp XL700V the third was the triumph scrambler (looks cool but not practical for my needs)

You have the advantage over me of being able to test ride both (at the time of my purchase I had not pased my test, yep bought a bike by just drooling over it:drool and throwing my leg over the saddle) which I would strongly advise........... its your choice.

Went for the 650 over the Alp do a bigger sized engine and 71 BHP over the 59 BHP so more va va voom :thumb2

6 gears aposed to 5, just figured I would have more fun on the 650, with added advantage of lotts more accesssories:thumb2

I passed a transalp earlier today i was in stationary traffic in my Van window wound down it had after market cans sounded realy nice :thumb2.

I know I guy we rode with last year in Scotland went from owning a KTM990A to the transalp I struggled to keep up with him but thats just ridding experience and he new the roads.

I know they are doing great deals with the Alp and vara throwing in free top box and panniers (colour coded).

good luck with your choice both great bikes. :thumb2

Transalp has a reputation for ultra reliability. If it has the luggage capacity it would make a real alternative to any of the GS range.

I can't fault my 650. :D I looked at the Transalp before buying mine and it's a good competent bike but the 650 won the day because of the extra bhp, it's lighter, the seat height is lower, if that's a factor, and has a tank range of up to 250 miles. Mine averages 72 mpg no matter how I ride it. Can't complain about that and there aren't many out there that can compare with it. Plus there's a lot of extra stuff to put on it if you want to.
I should also add perhaps that my local BMW dealer gives a excellent service experience - odd thing to say maybe, but it's so much better than going to the local Japanese dealer - you just feel better looked after though you're probably not!! (Maybe it makes you feel better when you're paying for your service :comfort)
I guess it's what suits you best and what price you can get one for at the end of the day but if I was going to change my bike I'd go for another one.
