F650gs wont start (2000 model)

Nice sunny bank Holiday for a change and guess what,bike wont start ?
Starter moter is firing over nicely,battery fully charged,all fuses checked and o.k.,sidestand switch checked and o.k,have unplugged engine managemment "thingy" for an hour or so and reconnected it?
Any clues or I am going to have paint hallway if I cant make rapid escape!!!!!!:(

Have you checked the KILL switch
 
The most likley culprits are the relays that live underneath the cover in front of the battery. One is a load control relay and it has a little capacitator which stores 12 volts and feeds it to the BMS unit for 3 secs or so while the starter is in operation. Or doesnt.

Water can get up into the mounting and corrode the pins and the large square one can just fail .

Intermittenty.

For a couple of years, until it finally stops forever. Dont ask.

Substitution is the only way I know of checking them.

There are pics sonwhere on the 650 single forum on this site of the offending items.

Also check that the wiring harness is not rubbing against the rear of the remote shock adjuster where it crosses over from the frame to the engine - it can be expensive if not found in time.If BMW have a harness to sell you that is.
It is a recall item for Daker owners in the US, but everyone else pays to have it fixed - dont ask .
