Right then wife on way home on the back of a truck, bike wont start.

RID, lights abs fuel pump all ok, just no attempt to start when hitting the starter button.

Any advice as where to look for fault would be greatfully received.

Oh its a new ish battery with loads of charge and a new starter motor less than two months old and been running fine, only thing is it has been chucking down with rain and it has been outside where she works all day.

So the engine won't turn over at all?
Fuses / relays all ok?
Remove spark plugs to eliminate water ingress.
Ennsure your battery is fully charged or connected to a good car battery (car not running)
Does it spin over?
If not
Check all connections on the starter and battery, but as you seem to have electrics working ok elsewhere, focus on the Starter first.
Try shorting across the starter motor exciter wire and the positive terminal to see if the motor cranks over.
be careful of the earth wire next to the positive.
If it spins then you may have a pushbutton fault (especially if it's been raining) or wiring in that region.
Not spinning then can you source another S/M or try the old one?
BTW, why was the S/M replaced?
Is the S/M a new genuine or cheap chinese copy. (I bought one of these and it lasted 4 weeks = utter shite)
Thats what I would do initially.

Thanks for the replies, the battery seems fine, lights work all the RID is fine, kill switch works in that in off all the stuff goes off as its supposed to and comes on when switched on.
There is a relay for the starter, but no fuse, so will look at the relay.
Starter was bought because the old one was getting tired and when I took it off to do the clutch there was a lot of roughness in the bearings, the replacement was from Woods auto and used them before and they have always been fine.
I have an 1100 as well so tomorrow will be swapping out bits to see where the problem lies, but I am tempted with either the button or the relay.

However as the saying goes if anyone else knows better? I am more than open to advice ;-)

Also, if nothing happens when you it the starter button, then I suggest also checking the black wire to the solenoid. It is possible it is no longer connected to the starter/solenoid...

Removing the starter takes less than 5 minutes. Maybe you want to test it outside of the bike. Becarefull when you refit the starter, it has a dovel pin. if not properly placed, you can lock the flywheel.

+1 on the side stand or the signal wire to the starter solenoid.

if these are both good I'd get a screwdriver across the solenoid terminals to see if the starter spins up if it does check the starter relay.

Or if you don't want to remove the starter for testing, simply pull the small black wire to the solenoid and measure if it gets 12v when pressing on the starter button. If you don't get 12v, then the problem is upstream ;-)

give that man a cheer, if the wire is broke and it don't get any volts at all that's likely to be the problem!!!!!

mend the break and reroute so it dont happen again (hopefully) and all is well with the world, well it starts anyway.

Obviously being a genius mechanic I would have though of all them things eventually, but it might have been a very long eventually, cheers for the advice to one and all.
