Does any use there F800gs 2 up on regular basis?

Very tempted by one, but as I am n 1150GSA at present I just wondered if any could let me know how it handles a pillion and kit.

I regularly ride my 650GS twin 2 up, just getting ready to ride to Austria and back in the end of July. So it can do it but it won't be the same as your 1150GS. It will fell loaded up, you just have to adjust your riding style to suit.

I like it as it is very easy to U-turn and deal with loaded up. The power is fine for me, but than my wife and I only weigh 18 stone combined

Best bet is to take one out for a two up test ride for as long as possible. It is a very much a personal opinion as to what suits. The MPG is a big plus though.

Hope that helps, :D

I think a test ride might be in order, I am a but more 'substantial' and our combined wait would be quite a bit more so best to try it out!

I just fancy something a bit lighter for when I am riding solo, but might not be the right tool for the job, so I will give it a go a and see.

Same power as my 1150 so should be quite nippy.

You might be on to a winner than! I personally think the 800gs range a superb all round bike!

It is a great bike, just mine almost everyday, but two up its just not big enough. Of course if your not Tosser sized then maybe.

But it is an awesome bike, I could have bought a 1200 but the 800 ticked all the boxes and was considerably cheaper.

To be honest though, I will probably replace it with a 1200 LC in the next two years then change the much loved K1300S with a Ducati monoposto.

Clearly you need an extended test ride.

The F800GS is fine two up as you long as you remember to adjust the pre-load to suit which is easy enough to do. I have travelled two up with panniers and top box with no problems. As with any other bike you need to use more throttle for any given speed but as the F800GS is a very light bike anyway the additional weight of a passenger is more easily handled than on an already heavy bike.

The power is certainly not an issue, and nor is the handling. The only questions are will you fit as it is more compact than the bloated bigger bikes, and can your arses survive the hideous standard seat?

Swap the seat and there's only one question!

+1 - I fitted the BMW Comfort Seat after 100mls of the standard seat, (which felt as if it had disappeared up the crack of me bum).

No problem for us, with full camping gear !
I weigh 200 and my wife 125 (naked) to put things in context.
I have the 15 tooth sprocket and 70 mph is my sweet spot although 75 mph cruising still is no problem.

Power and handling will be fine BUT I think you will suffer from the lack of space.I bought the F800gs after having the 1100rt,now I normally travel solo but I had a small headache trying to pack the camping gear I was used to carrying on the 1100.The seat is BMW`s attempt at keeping the mileages low on these bikes.Try to loan one for a weekend and load it up with all your usual stuff, I bet the missus wont like it.

I've been touring on the 800 two up with no problems... Got a comfort seat and the missus has not complained once.
We will be going two up on a three week trip to Spain, next month, in addition to the Vario luggage, I'll be hanging two Kriega US20's off the Adventure Spec Engine bars, to add a bit extra capacity and move some weight up front:)

Very irresponsible riding with a naked pillion, especially in Canada, bet she's bloody freezing!

:D
