I am unable to re-set the av' speed and av' fuel consumption readings on my bike.

For some reason there is a circle with a diagonal line through it the the left of these two displays and following the manual to re-set them doesn't work.

Anyone know if there's a reason these are fixed ? There's nothing in the manual about being able to fix or free to adjust any of the displays. :nenau

Cheers,
Dave

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think they can... not without a visit to the diag machine first (or maybe a GS911).

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what any of it means though !

According to the manual, you can re-set these two. Why would they be blocked in the first place ? Page 40 or 41 tells you fow to do it.

Does anyone else have the same problem ?

Press and hold the INFO button (the one on left grip that you use to scroll through info).

The circle with the line is to show you're looking at average numbers, and not instananeous. I think on mine you scroll to the figure with the left bar button, then hold the lower button on the display until they reset.

Not sure if you need the ignition in position 1 or 2 - haven't doen it for about a year!

The buttons on the computer reset the trip and set the time.

As RCE says, scroll to the right display by pressing the INFO button, so it's showing an average value (with the circle with a line through it) and then press and hold the 'INFO' button until it resets :beerjug:

I don't bother with (read: care about) the averages any more. I leave the display on Temp, until the fuel lights on, then view the miles to empty.... :blagblah

Hold the INFO button , eh ? That I'll try tonight. Teach me for reading a manual for the first and last time in my life ! It says 'hold down button 1' ......:nenau

Not normally bothered but wanted to get a comparison between my dual carriageway and backroads commuting as well as two up. And don't like being bamboozled by something.

Cheers for the info guys. :thumb2

Yep jus scroll to the MPG or Ave. Speed and then press and hold the info button till it resets. :)

I have the F650GS so no access to the F800GS manual, but my manual refers to button 1 as the info button and button 2 as the button next to the screen. Button 2 is for selecting and resetting the trip meter. Button 1 (eg info button) is for selecting and resetting the computer info such as average fuel consumption etc.

Thats the way to do it as outlined in the Riders manual :thumb

Resetting first as described in the little book :thumb2 :D

You are all quite correct of course and I have failed miserably to read the manual properly .

I have now learned how to do it and am suitably embarassed !

I suppose my next question about how long post test should you be riding before you are allowed to go to fourth gear, then fifth , then sixth is best left unasked ? :augie

Glad it worked

Don't rush to take your stabilisers off until you've completed your first RTW trip or completed the advanced counter-steering course. :beerjug:
