F800GS Extras prices / opinions.

Were looking at buying 2 new F800gs soon and were after some advice on the price and opinions of the optional extras. Any help or advice would be greatly apprciated. I think ive got most of the extras below.

• ABS - £750 , Would like to have this (esp as it can be turned off) but £750 seems a bit steep!
• On-Board - Couldnt find a price. It seems most bikes already have this and not sure exactly what bonus it adds?!
• Centre Stand - Will be getting a centre stand but is the standard one priced well or is an aftermarket one a better option?
• Tinted Windshield - Will probably go aftermarket with this.
• Hand Guards and Protectors - Would defn like but not sure on price difference between standard and aftermarket?
• Heated Grips - Think ill be going with the Symtecs options , £50 instead of £130...
• Sat Nav - Not needed.
• Bash Plate - Would like but needs to fit with extra crash bars so not sure if originals or aftermarkets are best?
• Akrapovic Silencer - Theres defn cheaper options

Generally looking to save a bit of cash as were already pushing the boat out to get the money together to buy 2 bikes before the prices go up on jan 1st but not going to cut back to much on things we defn want lol.
Apreciate theres alot being asked but anyone with firsthand prices or opinions would be great.

The ABS on the F800 is £500 not £750 so you've saved yourself £250 already!

On board computer is a must mate. Definately go for the centre stand too

OBC - Usefull, especially on motorways as it's something to play with
ABS - Too much complication on a RTW trip?
Centre stand - seems similar price to others.
Tinted windschield - Please
Hand Guards - BM ones seem good as long as you don't expect them to keep much rain / cold off your hands, even with the "extenders".
Heated Grips - Work well, integrated into the bike, don't look like some aftermarket tat.
Bash plate - Had a look at the TT made, BM supplied ones?
Akrapvokic silencer - Why? Cat is in the header pipes, NN do a replacement IIRC for less than £300.

may be of limited help and possibly also stating the bleedin' obvious, but I think I'm right that the OBC is the only way to have a fuel gauge

to use the modern parlance: "what's that all about ?"

I would have thought that the resale value will be better if you go for original BM items rather than saving a few quid on aftermarket tat.

For instance,getting the BM heated grips installed at the factory is far neater than buying aftermarket ones and having some unsightly switch stuck on your handlebars compared to the integrated BM version.

True about the re-sale value and look but the price difference might be a big enough difference. I think when i add up all the options i might have a minor heart attack lol.

The one thing i didnt cover was usage of the bikes. It wont be a RTW trip but will be used for most other things , long distance , off-road , some commuting but not a great deal of a winter riding. Current big plan is a 3 week trip next sept over to spain and morroco

Think current list of must haves are :

OBC
ABS
Centre Stand
Hand Guards
Heated Grips
Bash plate

The silencer can wait and the Tinted screen is a defn no (I originally read this as extended screen which i will look at after buy the bikes).

Still confused why the fuel guage is not included as standard and you need to buy a OBC but suppose thats how the basic price is down to £6,695

Gonna phone the dealer now and get exact prices. Hopefully i wont die of the shock

Works on the German site. Be able to see what we could be paying if they take the €1 = £1 route!

Some of them will close at mid-day today and re-open on Tuesday 30th, as they're not usually open on Mondays.

I did not mind too much them trying to shaft me on th etrade in price but when I was told a stand was an extra...
Nahhhhhh..
They can keep their bikes.
Any firm that is so close to failing they need to steal a few quid for an item that should be standard is not a good bet in my books ! ( and I mean BMW here )
Spoke to an oik ( who was about 12 ) on the BM stand at the NEC about it.. his words ?
'Well SIR, you do not HAVE to buy one.. Excuse me, I have better things to do'

So that means BM have now lost the 800 sale AND the sale of a replacement 1200 for me .. I hear Honda calling my name !

Most Hondas don't come with a centre stand as standard, (neither my Transalp or Africa Twin did) and unlike the BMWs £85 will cost nearer the £100 +
I wouldn't call it stealing, you have the option, I'm sure some would rather save £85 than have a large chunk of metal under the bike.

Getting the machine on the 3rd Jan, can't wait, going to be one dragging Christmas.

I've gone for the computer, centre stand and heated grips, but the bike is also coming with LED indicators. I've already got the Bark Busters on order but will also need crashbars and eventually a bash plate before doing anything other than easy lanes, let farkling commence
